Batting, Priscilla (Ellis), age 76, a longtime resident of Medfield, died peacefully on Wednesday morning, August 25, 2010 at her home in Walpole.
Born in Westfield, MA, on July 21, 1934, she was the daughter of the late Leslie and Kathleen (Collins) Ellis. Priscilla was a graduate of Westfield High School and received a BFA from Massachusetts College of Art.
Employed as a secretary with the Church of the Advent in Medfield for many years, Priscilla also volunteered for numerous local organizations serving as a Brownie leader, a consultant for the Episcopal Diocese, a member of the Medfield Historical Commission and the Medfield Historical Society. In the 1960’s, Priscilla proudly served on the Medfield board that initiated FISH, a program to assist local residents with free transportation. Years later, she became a real estate agent with Coldwell Banker and Delta Real Estate, developed a professional artist business in wall and floor stenciling and worked for several years at Nelinet in Wellesley. Priscilla loved to read, feed the birds while attending to her cats and spend lots of time with her family, especially making crafts with her grandchildren.
She is survived by her three daughters, Karen Batting Konicek and husband Tim of Melrose, Holly J. Batting and husband Michael Urban of Walpole, and Jennifer L. Batting and partner Michael Tornesello of Wellington, NV, a brother, Leslie Ellis of Wilbraham, and five grandchildren: Benjamin, Justin, and Madeline Konicek, Emma Batting and Samuel Urban.
A memorial service will be held at the Epiphany Episcopal Church, 62 Front Street, Walpole on Sunday, August 29th at 3:00p.m.

Ferguson, Margaret "Peggy" (Lawrence), age 51, of resident of Framingham since 1986, died on Friday evening, August 20, 2010, at Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston after a brief illness. She was the wife of Scott Ferguson since 1995.
Born in Falmouth on August 12, 1959, she was the daughter of Mary (Martin) Lawrence of Falmouth and the late Bernard P. Lawrence. She was a graduate of the Falmouth Schools, completed her undergraduate work at the Southeastern Massachusetts University and earned a Master’s in Business Administration at the University of Massachusetts Amherst.
Peggy was employed for many years as a sales representative to credit unions throughout New England for the Credit Union National Association of Massachusetts in Southborough. She also worked several years as a conference planner with Babson College and had most recently been employed as an assistant buyer with TJX Companies in Framingham. She was a member of the UMass Amherst Alumni Association.
A distance runner, Peggy had twice completed the Boston Marathon. She enjoyed playing golf and general physical fitness activities and was an enthusiastic all around sports fan.
In addition to her husband and mother, she is also survived by a brother, Stephen Lawrence and wife Jackie of Natick; her mother-in-law, Ann (McCarthy) Ferguson of Medfield; three brothers-in-law: Randy Ferguson of Medfield, Jeffrey Ferguson and wife Carrie of Franklin, and Douglas Ferguson and wife Jennifer L. Hopcroft of Norwood; and two nieces and two nephews. She was also a daughter-in-law of the late Malcolm Ferguson, Jr.
Friends may visit with the family at the Roberts-Mitchell Funeral Home, 15 Miller Street, Medfield, on Friday, Aug. 27th at 9:30a.m., prior to a funeral service at 11:00a.m. Burial will be at Vine Lake Cemetery, Medfield.

Levins, H. Gordon, age 89, a longtime resident of Homosassa, FL, died early Wednesday morning, August 11, 2010, at Veteran’s Administration Boston Healthcare in West Roxbury.
Born on March 2, 1921, in Wewahitchka, FL, he was a son of the late Theodore and Sarah Virginia (Clark) Levins. He was raised and educated in Gainesville and served with the US Navy during World War II.
Gordon owned and operated Marine Transportation company in Massachusetts for over fifty years. He was a charter member and past commander of the Homosassa Amvets Post and a lifetime member of the Florida Navy Seabees of America Isle X-23 in Crystal River. He was a lifetime fisherman, gardener, cross-word puzzle solver, and winemaker (member of Florida Grape Growers Assoc.).
He is survived by his wife, Edythe; a son, Wayne and his wife Carol of Crystal River, FL; two stepdaughters, Linda Mulyk and her husband Walter of Kendall Park, NJ, and Cynthia Souza and her husband Fred of Norfolk, a daughter in law Barbara Curvin; and nine grandchildren: Michael Curvin of Dedham, Elizabeth Osorio of Roslindale, Christopher Curvin of OR, David Mulyk, USN in Norfolk, VA, Kristin Mulyk of NY, Gregory Mulyk of NJ, Wayne Curvin of Boston, Christina Curvin of NY, and Brianna Souza of Norfolk. He was also predeceased by three stepchildren, Stephen, Christopher and Elaine.
A committal service with military honors will held be at the Massachusetts National Cemetery, Connery Avenue, Bourne, on Thursday, Aug. 19th at 11:30a.m.

Tuttle, Marilyn G. (Jandreau), age 79, a longtime former Medfield resident died on Monday morning, August 2, 2010, at the Milford Care and Rehabilitation Center.
Born in Bradford, Maine, on February 26, 1931, she was the daughter of the late Harbay and Avis (Cook) Jandreau. She was raised and educated in the Bradford area and remained a Maine resident until she relocated to Medfield in 1952.
Marilyn was employed with the Medfield State Hospital as a nurse’s aide for twenty five years. She enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren and reading a good book.
Wife of the late Albert Tuttle, she is survived by her children, Bruce E. Stone and wife Jenny of Maine, Linda R. Houghton of Franklin, Kathleen R. Osiek and husband Ron of Arkansas, and Alan R. Tuttle and wife Sandra of Grafton; eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held at the family lot at Vine Lake Cemetery, 625 Main Street (Rte. 109), Medfield, on Friday, August 6th at 11:00a.m.

Parmigiane, Lorraine (Pfander), age 82, a Medfield resident since 1955, died on Saturday night, July 31, 2010, at Maplecrest Rehabilitation Center in Madison, Maine.
Born in Philadelphia, PA, on March 23, 1928, she was a daughter of the late William and Jennie (Schlegel) Pfander. Lorraine graduated from Penn State in 1950 and later that year married Ralph A. Parmigiane. She was employed as a teacher in New Jersey and Maine prior to settling in Medfield.
Lorraine created a warm and loving home for her family, working occasionally as a substitute teacher with the Medfield Public Schools for many years. An artist and musician, she also enjoyed reading, long walks, and volunteering her time and talents at the Deaconess Glover Hospital in Needham. She is most remembered as a loving wife, a great mother and a doting grandmother.
Predeceased by her son Thomas in 1981, she is survived by her husband; her daughter, Anne L. Marks and husband Bennett of Carlisle; two sons, David W. Parmigiane of Medway and Roger A. Parmigiane of Medfield; and four grandchildren, Aaron and Keinan Marks and Sean and Joseph Parmigiane. She was also the sister of the late Edith Wright, Marjorie Fellows, William Pfander, and Janet Swirduc.
Her funeral service will be held at the Roberts-Mitchell Funeral Home, 15 Miller Street, Medfield, on Thursday, Aug. 5th at 10:00a.m. Burial will follow at Vine Lake Cemetery.
Visiting hours will be on Wednesday 4 – 7p.m.

Bayliss, Patricia Ann (Brown), age 66, of Millis where she has been a resident since 1966, died Sunday, July 25th, 2010 at the Leonard Morse Hospital in Natick.
Born December 19, 1943 in Narragansett, Rhode Island, she was the daughter of the late Murray and Ellen (Morris) Brown.
Formerly of Eastport, Maine, Mrs. Bayliss was educated in the Eastport, Maine Public Schools and furthered her education after moving to Millis at the Medfield State Hospital School of Nursing where she earned her nursing degree.
A dedicated, caring and compassionate person, she worked at Medfield State Hospital for over 30 years with the mentally challenged.
Mrs. Bayliss enjoyed the outdoors, especially camping, canoeing, and reading. She also took pleasure in long drives with her late husband listening to Neil Diamond, Toby Keith and Johnny Cash.
Wife of the late William N. Bayliss, she is survived by a son, Brian C. Bayliss and his wife Kasandra of Millis, a daughter Kelly Bayliss Hinton of Colorado Springs, CO, a sister Virginia Massucci of Southington, CT, and 4 grandchildren, Nicholas and Breanna Bayliss and Thomas and Christopher Hinton.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday, July 28, 2010 at 12:00 noon at St. Thomas the Apostle Church, 82 Exchange Street, Millis. Burial will follow at Prospect Hill Cemetery, Auburn Road, Millis.

Duhamel, George W., 93, of Millis where he has been a lifelong resident, died unexpectedly on Saturday evening, July 24th, 2010 at the MetroWest Medical Center in Framingham.
Born January 18, 1917 in Millis, he was the son of the late Clovis and Theresa (Hart) Duhamel. He was educated in the Millis Public Schools, graduating in 1935 a football star.
Prior to joining the navy in 1943, he worked for Draper Corporation and coached a men’s basketball league. While serving in the US Navy Seabees from 1943 to 1945, part of that time in the in the Aleution islands. After his tour of duty in the Navy, coaching the basketball league and began his long time employment at the Medfield State Hospital where he stayed for 35 years before retiring in 1979. George was also a Park Commissioner for the Town of Millis for many years. Among his many accomplishments, he was instrumental in getting the tennis courts for the town of Millis.
A member of the Medway VFW Post 1526 and Past Commander of VFW Post #10188, Tuscon, Arizona, he also belonged to the Millis Post 208, American Legion where he served on several committees.
Husband of the late Mary (Whalen) Duhamel, he was the father of Frances Spellman and her husband David of So. Yarmouth, Mary Theresa Swantak and her companion Richard Pearson of Norfolk and the late Geraldine Skinner. Also survived by 5 grandchildren, Theresa Duhamel, Andrea Scarbrough, Pamela Daley, Ian Skinner and Carrie Palazzo, and 5 great grandchildren McKenzie, Matthew, Colby, Viviana and Carson. He was predeceased by 3 brothers, Paul, Edward and Andrew Duhamel.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday, July 29th at 10:00am at St. Thomas the Apostle Church, 82 Exchange Street, Millis. Burial with military honors will follow at the family lot at Prospect Hill Cemetery, Millis.

Chick, G. Marshall , age 78, a lifelong resident of Medfield, died on Sunday morning, July 18, 2010, at Faulkner Hospital from complications from Lymphoma.
Born on November 18, 1931, he was the sixth child of Fred C. and Ruth (Marshall) Chick, also lifelong residents of Medfield. Marshall played football for Medfield High School and continued as a semi-pro player for the Golden Tornados after graduation. He attended Dean Junior College until 1952 when he enlisted in the United States Army and served as a corporal during the Korean War. A decorated war veteran, Marshall was currently the Veteran's Agent for the Town of Medfield.
Marshall earned a BS and a Masters Degree in Education from Boston State Teacher's College and began his career teaching in Medfield. He then taught in Sharon until his retirement 1992. In fact, his entire life was devoted to serving others. While he taught school during the winter, he spent a majority of his summers working at Boy Scout camps. For ten years he was program director for Camp Child in Manomet. While teaching, he served as president of the Massachusetts Teachers Association, lobbying the State House on behalf of the teacher's union. He was a past president of the Retired Educators Association of Massachusetts (REAM).
A former long term treasurer at the Church of the Advent, Marshall was also a devoted citizen of Medfield. From 1955 until the present he had served at various times on the School Committee, the Land Acquisition Committee and Cemetery Commission, and had worked with the Memorial Day, Baxter Park Flag and Study Memorial Committees. Marshall had been an election officer for 25 years and was a longtime curator and member of the Medfield Historical Society. He was also a member of the Medfield American Legion Beckwith Post 110.
A talented woodworker, Marshall enjoyed handcrafting furniture, collecting coins and books, and going on road trips. He had great memories of visits to Greece, Spain and Germany.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Ruth (Piccott); his son, David and wife Kati of Monrovia, California, and two daughters, Diane Chick and husband Jeff DeHaven of Kents Hill, Maine, and Susan of Los Angeles; a brother, Fred of Atkinson, NH, and six grandchildren, Javan and Ben DeHaven, Ashley and Karley Chick, and Jake and Kristina Iliopoulos as well as numerous nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. His sisters, Mildred and Myrtle, and his brothers, Robert and Francis, predeceased him.
His funeral will be held at the Church of the Advent, 28 Pleasant Street, Medfield, on Saturday, July 24th at 11:00a.m. Burial with military honors will follow at the family lot in Vine Lake Cemetery.

Ripley, Laraine Frances, age 61, a former longtime resident of Medfield, died on Friday, July 16, 2010, at Avow Hospice in Naples, Florida. She had lived in Naples for the past ten years.
Born in Natick on January 26, 1949, she was a daughter of the late H. Arnold and Phyllis L. (Avallone) Ripley.
A former marketing rep with Acknowledge, Inc., Laraine had worked in real estate while in Florida. She was a member of St. Mary’s Parish in Franklin and enjoyed decorating, golf, and socializing with friends and colleagues.
She is survived by a sister, Janice Johnson and husband Steve; a niece, Kimberly Alaine Johnson; and a nephew, Aaron J. O’Leary. She was also predeceased by a sister, Phyllis O’Leary.

Holborn, Donald Charles, age 60, of Medfield, died by accident on Saturday morning, July 10, 2010, while fishing near his East Orleans summer residence. He was the husband of Carrin V. (Caputo) Holborn and a son of the late David G. and Ruth (McGowan) Holborn. .
Don Holborn was a passionate, friendly and devoted family man who spent his days enjoying the life he worked so hard to build. This life, guided by his free spirit and street-smart persona, took him on a joyous journey from his early years in New York City and his college days at the University of Dayton through successful careers at Xerox in Connecticut and Fidelity in Boston. Don measured his success by the happy days he shared with his beloved wife of 29 years, Carrin and his son, David and his daughter, Kristin.
Moving from Fairfield in 1995, the Holborns found Medfield to be a well-suited match to the busy, fun-loving, on-the-go schedules they preferred. With David and Kristin involved in school and team sports, Don in particular enjoyed all the action. As much as possible, he programmed his agenda around being courtside to support David and Kristin in their successful basketball and volleyball exploits at Medfield High School.
Don’s passion for music and people combined with his uninhibited joy of living and loving kept him at the center of all occasions where celebrating life was the theme. While he enjoyed these occasions, it was the family celebrations shared with Carrin, that made him happiest. Whether he was listening to David play guitar or decorating for Christmas with Kristin, Don recognized how special these moments are in life and he cherished each one.
Being the consummate billiard’s player and a classic-rock aficionado, Don could lead a neighborhood “Band of Brothers – Boy’s Night Out” better than most and then make quick amends with the spouses by organizing and executing an extravagant “Couples” night out in Boston equipped with limos, fine wine and great “Clapton” tickets. The evening was not complete until Don had personally danced with, hugged and kissed everyone in attendance . . . men included!
Recently Don found great happiness hosting friends and family at the Cape Home in Orleans. He found escape and relaxation in his new passions and pleasure in a slower pace of life. Here he could finally take the time to see his life in full, how far he had come and how well he had lived. These thoughts and this knowledge brought him great contentment and peace.
He is also survived by his sister, Gail Vosler and husband Bob of Monsey, NY; his brother, David G. Holborn and wife Lynn of Stevens Point, WI; his mother-in-law, Veronica T. Caputo of Montebello, NY; his brother-in-law, John J. Caputo and wife Fran of Chestnut Ridge, NY; and many loving nieces and nephews. He was also the son-in-law of the late Anthony Caputo.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Saint Edward the Confessor Church, 133 Spring Street, Medfield, on Friday, July 16th at 10:00a.m. Burial will follow at Vine Lake Cemetery, Medfield.

Moran, Josephine M. "Dodie", age 92, a Medfield resident since 2008, died early Sunday morning, July 5, 2010, at Newton-Wellesley Hospital.
Born in Bangor, Maine, on April 21, 1918, she was a daughter of the late Stanley F. and Effie (Locke) Moran. Dodie was raised in Winterport, Maine, and was a graduate of Winterport High School. She worked at the Bangor Induction Office for the duration of World War II.
Dodie was employed as a clerk stenographer for the federal government and worked at both Dow Air Force Base and in Belfast, ME, throughout her career. A collector of music boxes, Dodie also enjoyed crocheting, doll making, embroidery, and cooking.
She is survived by three brothers, Paul A. Moran and wife Marjorie of Valdosta, GA, Ralph Moran and wife Marjorie of Colorado Springs, CO, and Stanley F. Moran, Jr. and wife Virginia of Medfield; a sister, Norma Greenacre of Lawrenceville, GA; and many nieces and nephews. Dodie was also predeceased by two sisters, Frances McLaughlin and Opal Brown.

Francis, Phyllis (Hamilton), age 84, of Medfield where she has been a lifelong resident, died unexpectedly on Sunday, July 4th, 2010 at the Thomas Upham House.
Born January 8th, 1926 in Natick, she was the daughter of the late George M. Hamilton Sr., and Catherine A. (Walsh) Hamilton. Having been raised in Medfield, Phyllis was educated in the Medfield Public Schools graduating with the class of 1940, and continued her education at Framingham State College (B.S. Ed) and at Boston University (M. Ed).
Phyllis had taught in the Westwood Public School system for 42 years prior to her retirement in June, 1989.
An active volunteer, she spent many hours helping out the Medfield State Hospital Auxiliary, the Thomas Upham House Nursing Home, the Medfield and Westwood Elementary Schools. She was also a very active volunteer and supporter of the Medfield Girl Scouts.
Wife of the late Adrian G. Francis, she is survived by her brother George M. Hamilton and his wife Cecelia of Lenox, MA, Nieces Elizabeth Butterfield and Catherine Milne, and nephews George Hamilton III and James Hamilton, as well as many grand nephews and nieces.
Relatives and friends will gather at the Roberts-Mitchell Funeral Home, 15 Miller Street, Medfield on Thursday, July 8th at 9AM for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 at St. Edward the Confessor Church, Medfield. Burial will follow at the family lot in Vine Lake Cemetery, Medfield.

Elbery, Paul Thomas, age 56, died at his Millis home on Tuesday morning, June 22, 2010, after a courageous battle with glioblastoma. With him at home were his wife of twenty years, Donna J. (Lockhart) Elbery and their son Robert T. Elbery.
Born in Boston on July 28, 1953, he was a son of June (Ramsay) Elbery of Needham and the late Norman Elbery. He was raised in Needham and was a 1971 graduate of Needham High School.
Paul worked for many years as an auto technician in Needham and Holliston. He had more recently been employed as a technician with Comcast. Paul was a train enthusiast and enjoyed tending to his lawn and taking long walks.
In addition to his wife, son, and mother, he is survived by three brothers, Norman Elbery of AZ, Michael Elbery of MA, and David Elbery of West Roxbury; two sisters, Joyce Elbery of Palm Harbor, FL, and Kathleen Elbery of Medfield.
His funeral will be held at the Roberts-Mitchell Funeral Home, 15 Miller Street, Medfield, on Friday, June 25th at 11:00a.m. Burial will follow at Highland Cemetery, Dover.

Harlow, Kathleen Tierney, age 51, of Millis, died on Thursday morning, June 17, 2010, at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston after a brief illness.
Born in Boston on June 25, 1958, she was a daughter of Robert E. and Marilyn J. (Foran) Tierney. Kathy was a 1976 graduate of Canton High School and continued her education at Stonehill College. She later earned a Master of Education from Wheelock College.
Kathy was a gifted and beloved third grade teacher at the Wheelock School in Medfield. Her loves were family, teaching, and sharing with her friends and community.
She is survived by her husband, Richard; three sons, Michael of Brookline, and Daniel and Christopher of Millis; a daughter, Elizabeth of Millis; her mother, Marilyn J. Tierney of No. Falmouth; two brothers, Robert Tierney and wife Nina of Sherborn and Greg Tierney of Mashpee; a sister, Susan Mullaney and husband Kevin of Needham; and her parents-in-law, Robert and Rita (Iannitelli) Harlow of Milford. She was predeceased by her father, Robert E. Tierney.

Thatcher, Clifford D., age 83, a longtime resident of Millis, died on Thursday morning, June 17, 2010, at Tufts Medical Center after a long illness.
Born on September 26, 1926, he was a 1944 graduate of Millis High School. He graduated from Harvard University in 1952. He served as a navigator on a B-29 that flew medical evacuations out of the Philippines during World War II. He was a 2nd Lieutenant in the Air Force during the Korean War.
He was an international marketing executive during his long career. After retirement Cliff and his wife Marcia traveled and lived in over 26 countries with the International Executive Service Corp. They lived and worked helping others in Russia, Turkey, Kazakhstan, Africa, Egypt, the Ukraine, Sri Lanka, and Guatemala.
A member of the Founders and Patriots of America and the Massachusetts Mayflower Society, Cliff was also a member of the governor’s mounted ceremonial escort of the National Lancers. He had served as a Millis Selectman and was a member of the Harvard Club, the Millis American Legion Post 208. He liked gardening, reading, and history, but most of all he enjoyed his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Marcia Lee (Shields) Thatcher; two daughters, Kathleen Ann Griffin-Brooks and husband Roger of No. Brookfield and Marcia Lee Thatcher of Dracut; two sons, Richard E. Thatcher and wife Irma of Arcadia, CA, and Steven A. Thatcher and wife Louise “Boo” of Mattapoisett; a sister, Joan Hemmer of Point Pleasant, NJ; a brother, Bernie Thatcher of Millis, eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild. He was predeceased by a son, Clifford J. “Jim” Thatcher; a great-grandson, Shane A. Thatcher; a brother, Edward Thatcher; and a sister, Jean Henthorne.

Burr, Rose A. (Mezzanotte), age 85, of Medfield, died on Tuesday night, June 15, 2010, with her family by her side at MetroWest Medical Center in Natick. She was the wife of Herbert L. Burr for 59 years.
Born in Medfield on April 11, 1925, she was a daughter of the late Romolo and Elena (Iafolla) Mezzanotte. Rose was raised in Millis and was a member of the Millis High School Class of 1945. She was employed with the J.C. Paige Insurance Company of Boston until 1950 when she settled in Medfield with her husband.
Rose went to work for the Tofias Hat Company and stayed on when the company became Charles Manufacturing. She later worked in the Dale Street School Cafeteria and was employed in the distribution area of Decelle’s at the time of her retirement.
A giving person, Rose frequently donated blood, worked long hours with the former Knitting Society on projects benefiting residents of the Medfield State Hospital, and was very involved for many years as a team parent at the L.Cpl. Stephen Hinkley Memorial Pond, also known as the Medfield Swim Pond. Rose frequently took adult education courses at the Medfield High School and very much enjoyed hobbies of ceramics, crafting, and woodworking.
In addition to her husband, Rose is survived by two sons, Thomas B. Burr and wife Mary Christine of Wallingford, CT, and Richard A. Burr and wife Sarah of Natick; a daughter, Janet E. Martini and husband Robert of No. Billerica; daughter-in-law Wendy J. Burr of Medway, wife of her late son Kevin M. Burr; ten grandchildren, Michael, Robert, Tyler, David, Nicholas, Sophia, Brett, Harrison, Brianna, and Liam; and two sisters, Anna Rossi and Janet Mezzanotte, both of Medfield. She was also a sister of the late John Mezzanotte and Elaine Mezzanotte.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Saint Edward the Confessor Church, 133 Spring Street, Medfield, on Monday, June 21st at 11:00a.m. Burial will follow at Vine Lake Cemetery.

Carter, Dwight A., age 83, a 44 year resident of Medfield, died on Thursday, June 10, 2010, at Clark House Nursing Center in Westwood.
Born in Newton on September 17, 1926, he was a son of the late H. Ronald and Anne (Noble) Carter. Dwight was raised in Needham Heights and was a 1944 graduate of Needham High School. He served two years as a Staff Sergeant with the Army and then continued his education, graduating magna cum laude from Syracuse University in 1950.
Dwight started his career in interior design working with Jordan Marsh, the Charles E. Smith Company, and Dunbar Furniture prior to co-founding Carter-Vincent, Inc., on Newbury in 1962. Carter-Vincent worked in both residential and commercial design and their talents were employed in decorating many area hospitals, inns, corporate offices, and store displays. In 1978, Dwight added teaching to his list of accomplishments when he joined the faculty of Chamberlayne School of Design at Mount Ida College in Newton.
A member of the American Society of Interior Design, he had also served on several educational boards and committees. Dwight held membership with both the Medfield Garden Club and the Medfield Historical Society and was an ardent supporter of the Dwight Derby House. He was an avid reader.
Brother of the late William H. Carter and Manson H. Carter, he is survived by his sisters-in-law, M. Jane Carter of Medfield and Barbara Carter-Berquist of Charlton; three nieces, Deborah Carter of Dover, Hope Groves of Walpole, and Heather Reilly of Holland, PA; a nephew, Stephen Carter of Sherborn; and several grandnieces and nephews.
A graveside service with military honors will be held at Vine Lake Cemetery, 625 Main Street (Rte. 109) Medfield, on Tuesday, June 15th at 1:30p.m.

Mahesh, Nevan, age 5, died peacefully in the company of his devoted family at Children’s Hospital in Boston on Tuesday, June 8, 2010.
Born in Framingham on June 6, 2005, he was the beautiful son of Reva Selvarajan and Mahesh Santhana and the loving brother of Nithin Mahesh.
Nevan, who attended Millis’s Clyde Brown School, was fun-loving, energetic, imaginative, and had a wonderful zest for life. His favorite pastimes were creating Transformers that battled each other, Starships that saved the Universe, and reliving the adventures of Woody and Buzz Lightyear. He faced his illness bravely and won the hearts of his doctors and nurses. Nevan made the most of his five years with us, his eyes, every minute, glinting with enjoyment and curiosity. He generously shared his love with his family and friends, who were glad to have known him in his brief time with us. Nevan taught those around him to appreciate all the beauty in their lives.
He is also survived by many loving relatives and friends, among them his grandparents K. Selvarajan and S. Dhanalakshmi of India.

Keris, Joseph J., age 89, of Suffolk, VA where he has been a resident for 6 years, died Saturday, June 5, 2010, at his home.
Born February 24th, 1921 in Needham, MA, he was the son of the late Stanislaw G. and Petronella (Sinkavitch) Keris.
Mr. Keris was educated in the Needham Public Schools, graduating with the class of 1940. Following three years of service with the United States Coast Guard during World II, he continued his education at Wentworth Institute in Boston.
A former longtime resident of Medfield, Joe worked at the Medfield Hat Factory while finishing school, and then worked for over 30-years as a tool designer with Fenwal Corp. in Ashland. An avid outdoorsman, Joe enjoyed hunting, fishing, golf, ice skating and cross country skiing. He also coached Medfield Little League Baseball.
Predeceased by Florence I. (Hersey) Keris, his wife of 65 years, Mr. Keris is survived by 2 daughters, Brenda J. Rieth and Bonnie J. Vinson and her husband Mark, all of Suffolk, VA; a son Michael J. Keris and his wife Karen, of Denton, TX; a brother John J. Keris of Needham; 3 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.
Graveside services with Military Honors will be held on Wednesday, June 9th at 12 Noon at Vine Lake Cemetery, 625 Main Street, (Rt. 109), Medfield.

Griffin, Mary Piccinotti, age 60, of Milford where she has been a resident since 2002, died Saturday, June 5th, 2010 at the MetroWest Medical Center in Natick.
Born July 17th, 1949 in Norwood, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Charlotte E. (Raney) Griffin. Mary was educated at the Franklin High School with the class of 1967, and furthered her studies at the
Rhode Island Technical Institute where she excelled in electronics.
A former longtime resident of Millis, she was a well known bartender in the local area, mainly Pipenelle’s (now known as 3, the Franklin Lodge of Elks #2136, of which she was a member as well, P.J. Stanley’s in Milford and often filled in at the Restaurant 45 (formerly Speroni’s) in Medway.
Mary enjoyed a good game of golf, followed football enthusiastically, and loved to travel.
Predeceased by her husband Vincent Piccinotti, she is survived by a sister, Marion E. Mandell and her husband Lee of Millis, 3 brothers, David P. Griffin of Glendale, AZ, Thomas J. Griffin and his wife Jean of Bridge City, TX, and Daniel P. Griffin and his wife Brenda of Bellingham as well as many nephews and nieces. Mary was also predeceased by a brother Joseph F. Griffin.
Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, June 9th at 10AM at the Roberts-Mitchell Funeral Home, 90 Curve Street, Millis with burial following at Sacred Heart Cemetery, Medway Road, Milford.

McCloy, Nicole M., age 41, of Framingham, formerly of Medfield , Millis, and Westborough, died suddenly on Saturday, June 5, 2010, at MetroWest Medical Center in Framingham.
Born in Cleveland, OH, on July 4, 1968, she was a daughter of Robert Iafolla and Linda Wilkens, both current Medfield residents. Nicole was a 1986 graduate of Millis High School, and continued her education at the University of Massachusetts/Amherst where she earned a Bachelors of Science degree in Building Materials and Wood Technology.
Nicole worked as a commercial lighting specialist with Litemor Distributors of Norwood for the past eight years. She had previously been a longtime employee of the Fred Davis Corporation in Medfield. A Grateful Dead fan, Nicole enjoyed concerts, beading, and most of all a good laugh.
Wife of the late Joseph McCloy, she is survived by her companion, Shaun Flynn Seariac; her parents; a step-father, Aaron Enright of Medfield; a sister, Kathryn Wilkens-Christopher and husband Allen of Amherst; a brother, Robert Wilkens-Iafolla of Washington, DC; a niece, Margaret Kathryn Wilkens of Somerville; an aunt, Laura Wilkens Atherton of Danville, OH, four uncles; and eight cousins.
A memorial service will be held at the Roberts-Mitchell Funeral Home, 15 Miller Street, Medfield, on Tuesday, June 15th at 11:00a.m.

McQueeney, Francis J., Age 81, of Franklin, formerly of Boston, June 4, 2010, beloved husband of Fay (White) McQueeney.
He was the father of Michael McQueeney of TX, Cathleen Florentine of Everett, Brian McQueeney of FL, and Maureen McQueeney of NJ. Step father of Bobbi Barrett of Norfolk and Thomas Hovey of ME, and is also survived by many grandchildren.

Warren, Mary Virginia, age 78, of Medfield where she has been a resident since 1985, died Friday, June 4th, 2010 at the Golden Living Center in Dedham.
Born April 7, 1931 in Roxbury, she was the daughter of the late Thomas F. and Frances M. (Kerrigan) Warren. Educated in Roslindale, she graduated with the class of 1951 and was awarded a scholarship by the Museum of Fine Arts and received the Gold Key Award by the Boston Globe.
Mary was employed for many years as an Administrative Assistant by Putnam Investments of Boston prior to her retirement. She enjoyed dancing and was well known for her artistic abilities.
She is survived by two sisters, Carolyn A. Bright and her husband Louis of Franklin and Kathleen H. Leonard and her husband Jim of Medfield and many nephews and nieces. Two brothers predeceased her, Thomas F. Warren Jr, and Edward L. Warren.

Gattoni Harney, Irene T. (Royland), age 91, a former longtime Medfield resident, died on Sunday morning, May 30, 2010, at the Saint Camillus Health Center in Whitinsville, her home for the past eight years.
Born, raised and educated in New Bedford, she was a daughter of the late Frank J. and Matilda (Gauvin) Royland. She married John “Red” Gattoni in 1940, and they made their home in Medfield until his death in 1981.
Irene was employed for over 40 years with Lord’s Department Store of Medfield as a cashier and stationary manager. A longtime Communicant of Saint Edward the Confessor Parish, she had also been a member of the Catholic Daughters of the Americas.
In 1987, Irene married the late William Harney and settled in Northbridge. She enjoyed gardening, knitting, craftwork, and reading.
She is survived by a daughter, Ann M. Gattoni of Acton; a son, Paul A. Gattoni of Smithfield, ME; five grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren. She was also the mother of the late John “Jack” Gattoni and James M. Gattoni.

Lyall, Bridget (Grier), died peacefully at her residence on Tuesday morning, May 25, 2010.
Formerly of Co. Mayo, Ireland, Bridget had made Medfield home for many years. She was a member of the Walpole Country Club and the Westwood Bridge Club.
She is survived by her husband, Thomas L. Lyall; five children, George of Greenville, SC, Barbara of Nutley, NJ, Donna and her husband Robert Meaney of Medfield, Kevin and his wife Cathy of Fort Mill, SC, and Patricia of Germantown, MD; eight grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; and many nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at Saint Edward the Confessor Church, 133 Spring Street, Medfield, on Saturday, June 12th at 10:00a.m. Burial will be private at a later date.

Callow, Edward W., age 82, of Old Orchard Beach, ME, and Englewood, FL, died early on Thursday morning, January 7, 2010, at the Milford Care and Rehabilitation Center.
Born in Natick on July 24, 1927, he was the son of the late William E. and Bertha (Radcliffe) Callow. He was raised in Medfield and attended school with the Medfield Class of 1945. He enlisted with the Navy prior to graduation and served as a fireman 1st class aboard the USS Porter, a destroyer operating in the Pacific Theatre. Mr. Callow received a high school diploma after the war’s end.
Mr. Callow had been employed throughout his career as a general contractor working on construction projects primarily in Medfield vicinity. Retiring in 1995, he thereafter split his time between homes in Maine and Florida. Mr. Callow had enjoyed playing golf, card games with friends, and travel. He was also a Past Commander of American Legion Beckwith Post 110 in Medfield and was a volunteer with the Norwood Elks Lodge #1124, particularly on bingo nights.
He is survived by his wife, Lorraine (Cavatorta) Callow; a daughter, JoAnn Callow of Medfield; a son, William E. Callow and wife Tracy of Medfield; and three granddaughters, Catrina, Cassandra, and Lindsay. He was also the brother of the late Gwendolyn Link.
A memorial service will be held at the Roberts-Mitchell Funeral Home, 15 Miller Street, Medfield, on Saturday, June 12th at 11:00a.m. preceded by an American Legion service in the funeral home at 10:30a.m. Burial will be private.

Cubbon, Douglas K., age 67, a longtime resident of Millis, died on Sunday afternoon, May 16, 2010, at Brigham and Women’s Hospital.
Born in Newark, NJ, on August 13, 1942, he was the son of the late Douglas C. and Eleanor L. (Burck) Cubbon. He was a graduate of the Springfield, NJ, Schools and continued his education at Kentucky Wesleyan College and Wesleyan University in Connecticut.
Doug taught Auto Mechanics at the Attleboro and Wakefield High Schools prior to being co-owner of Westwood Auto. He had also been a sales manager with Nissan. A member of the Garage Antigue & Classic Car Club, Doug enjoyed collecting 1920 – 1970 vintage Lincolns and Fords.
He is survived by many cousins and friends.

Friel, Robert F., MEDFIELD: Robert Francis Friel, 83, of Medfield where he has been a resident since 1983, passed away peacefully Saturday evening, May 22, 2010 at home after a courageous battle with COPD.
Born in Boston December 3rd, 1926 he was the son of the late Thomas F. and Evelyn (Doyle) Friel. He was educated in the Boston Public schools and graduated from Roslindale High School early at the age of 17 with the class of 1944 where he was the class president as well as Captain of the football, hockey and baseball teams. Bob also furthered his studies at Boston College after completing a tour of duty with the U.S. Coast Guard during World War II where he served in the office of the District Coast Guard Officer of the First Naval District.
Formerly of Needham and West Roxbury, he had been employed for many years by the Boston Herald as the head of the Classified Advertising Department. He was also a president of the Massachusetts State Employees Association, and an Arbitrator for NADE (National Association of Government Employees) until his retirement in 1997.
Bob was a member and twice Past President of the Beckwith Post, 110, American Legion in Medfield, a former member of the Knights of Columbus, West Roxbury Council, and current member of the Medfield Council on Aging where he enjoyed playing cards several days a week. He enjoyed mostly time with family, and was a life time fan of the Boston Red Sox and the New England Patriots. He was also well known as a “Shanachie” (Irish story teller).
He was the loving father of Robert F. Friel Jr and his wife Maureen of Casanova, VA, Jack J. Friel and his wife Kitty, and Nancy P. Friel and her fiancé John McCarthy all of Medfield. Grandfather of Jordan, Jessica Jackie, Casey, Ryan, Bret, Hayley and Deana. Great grandfather of Maureen and Grace.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday, May 26th, 2010 at 10:00AM at St. Edward the Confessor Church, 133 Spring Street, Medfield.

Howell, Erma Jean (Burrows), age 80, a longtime resident of Franklin, died early Thursday morning, May 20, 2010, at Norwood Hospital.
Born in Dexter, NY, on December 21, 1929, she was a daughter of the late Layal J. and Alta E. (Corey) Burrows. She was a 1947 graduate of Brownsville High School in Brownsville, NY.
Erma Jean was married in 1948 and has made a warm and loving home for her family. She was an enthusiastic Red Sox Fan, enjoyed being with her family, and loved to travel.
An active member and Past Matron of the Order of the Eastern Star former Franklin Fern Chapter 46 and active member of the Angle Stone Chapter 118 of Attleboro, Erma Jean was also Past President of the Franklin VFW Post 3402 Auxiliary.
She is survived by her husband, Lawrence D. Howell; and her five children, Lawrence D. Howell, Jr. and wife Lorraine of Fresno, CA, Roger W. Howell and wife Maureen of Franklin, Ryan A. Howell of Mansfield, Rebecca A. Howell of Franklin, and Wesley G. Howell of Franklin; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was also a sister of the late Irene Compeau, Raymond Gillis, Lamoine Ober, and William Burrows.

Bergins, Michael Stephen, age 38, a lifelong resident of Millis, died peacefully at his home on Tuesday morning, May 18, 2010.
Born in Boston on March 7, 1972, he was the beloved son of Lewis A. Bergins of Millis and the late Connie (Cole) Bergins. He attended the Kennedy Donovan Center in Foxboro as a youth.
Michael was a 1994 graduate of the BICCO Collaborative Program in Franklin. Since that time he had spent weekdays at the Barry Price Rehabilitation Center in Dedham. He enjoyed all aspects of his time at Price, particularly community outings and interacting with the wonderful staff. A great fan of the Muppets, Michael particularly liked lively music and Disney movies.
In addition to his dad, Michael is survived by his loving sister, Deborah G. Bergins of Millis, and many relatives and friends.

Zabe, Kathryn D., of Medfield where she has been a resident since 1972, passed away on Tuesday, May 18th, 2010 after a courageous battle with cancer at the Timothy Daniels House in Holliston.
Born May 2, 1931 in Brooklyn, New York, she was the cherished daughter of the late Ralph and Mary (Klam) Davis. She was educated at the Brooklyn Public Schools and was a graduate of Drew Seminary in Carmel, New York.
She had been employed prior to marriage as an executive secretary for American Oil Company in Manhattan, New York.
An active social and athletic person she enjoyed line dancing and was an avid tennis player. Kathryn was a member of the Hannah Adams Women’s Club, a women’s bridge group and a couple’s bridge group. She also enjoyed music and theater events.
A devoted wife and mother, Kathryn was the beloved wife of Robert N. Zabe, and mother of Nancy A. Zabe of Franklin, Philip R. Zabe of Nashville, TN, Steven P. Zabe and his wife Gail of Elgin, IL, and the late Karen H. Zabe. She also leaves a sister Nancy Davis of Brooklyn, NY, and 2 brothers Ed Davis of Bridgehampton, NY and Will Davis of Jamison, PA.

Alterio, Robert, age 68, of Medfield, formerly of L'Aquila, Italy, died on May 17, 2010. He was the beloved husband of Mimi (Sabatino) Alterio; loving father of Dino Robert Alterio and wife Maureen of Sudbury and John Robert Alterio and wife Stefania of Los Angeles, CA; devoted grandfather of Taylor M. Alterio of Sudbury; brother of Rudy Alterio of West Bridgewater and brother-in-law of Josephine and Frank Catena of Cleveland, OH. Born, raised and educated in Philadelphia, PA, Marie was the daughter of the late Edward and Elsie Korzen. She married and lived for a brief time in Rochester, NY, prior to settling in Medfield in 1962.
Marie had been employed with the Medfield Housing Authority and for many years was responsible for Tilden Village Elderly Housing. She was a longtime member of the Church of the Advent and also enjoyed the Medfield Garden Club.
Predeceased by her husband, Frank R. Roberts, she is survived by her son, John E. Roberts; his wife, Sylvia Grmela; and their children, Julian and Oskar, all of Buffalo.
A graveside service will be held at Vine Lake Cemetery, 625 Main Street (Route 109), on Saturday, May 22nd at 12:30p.m.

Vachon, Cecilia Grace, age 2 years, died surrounded by family at her Medfield home.
She was the beloved daughter of John R. and Caryn M. (O'Toole) Vachon and loving sister of Joseph P. and
Michael A. Vachon; cherished granddaughter of Connie A. (Bibbo) Vachon of Newton and the late Joseph R. Vachon, and Patrick J. O'Toole of Newton and the late Celia M. (Butera) O'Toole; niece of Lisa Brown, and Ronald and his wife Maria Vachon, all of Newton, Patrick J. Jr. and his wife Amy S. O'Toole of Millis, and Robert M. and his wife Nadia C. O'Toole of Newton; and is also survived by 10 cousins and many loving relatives.
Her funeral will be from the Roberts-Mitchell Funeral Home, 15 Miller St., Medfield, on Wednesday, May 19, at 9 A.M. followed by a Mass of the Angels at St. Edward the Confessor Church, 133 Spring St., Medfield, at 11 A.M. Relatives and friends invited.
Interment will be private.

Ouellette, Joseph A., age 73, of Franklin, an Adjunct Professor of Marketing at Bryant University, died on May 12, 2010, at MetroWest Medical Center in Natick.
Born in Woonsocket, Rhode Island, on June 24, 1936, he was a son of the late Adelard J. and Rose Aimee (Paulhus) Ouellette. Joe was raised in Woonsocket and was a member of the Mount Saint Charles High School Class of 1954. He served as a submariner with the United States Navy for 4 years and later earned a BA from the University of Maryland and a Master of English Literature from American University.
Joe was employed in marketing and sales with IBM and had been a leader in new product development and international marketing. He had made his home in Maryland and New York until the 1980s when he was on faculty loan to Northeastern University in Boston. He continued in marketing with Digital Equipment Corp., later Hewlett Packard, for several years prior to accepting an adjunct professorship with Bryant University in Smithfield, RI. He had a great affinity for teaching and was pleased to be a member of the Bryant faculty since 2002.
A gifted carpenter, Joe enjoyed renovating homes with his sons and would also take on such tasks as building retaining walls and fireplaces. He shared a love and enthusiasm for literature with his daughter. He was an extraordinary host who loved preparing meals with his wife for his friends and family. Joe also played tennis, and relished listening to classical music.
He is survived by his loving wife of 21 years, Demetra (Courtsunis) Ouellette; a daughter, Michelle Ouellette and husband Kevin Avants of Santa Fe, NM; four sons, Marc D. Ouellette and wife Elizabeth Burpee, M.D., of Albuquerque, NM, Jon C. Ouellette and wife DiAnn Sherk of Boulder, CO, Joel A. Ouellette and wife Sarah Wolff of Amherst, and Daniel Ouellette and wife Bernadette Jurkowski of Woodstock and NYC, NY; eight grandchildren, Max, Keelia, Madeleine, Galen, Claire, Olivia, Liam, and Miles; a sister, Jeannine M. Anderson and husband Kenneth of Port St. Lucie, FL, three brothers, Richard E. Ouellette and wife Paula of Orlando, FL, Dennis R. Ouellette and wife Joy of Atlanta, GA, and Bruce R. Ouellette, D.D.S., and wife Danette of West Palm Beach, FL; and eight nieces and nephews.

Beath, Robert Gerard, age 82, a resident of Brockton, died on Saturday morning, May 1, 2010, at his nephew’s Medfield home.
Born in Boston on November 18, 1927, he was a son of the late Thomas P. and Kathleen (Donovan) Beath. Bob was raised and educated on Mission Hill and entered the Navy after graduation to serve during World War II. He later served with the Army in Korea and lived for several years in West Roxbury after returning home.
Bob was employed throughout his career as a letter carrier with the United States Postal Service. He made his home in the areas where he was assigned, among them Dedham, Norton, Wareham and ultimately Brockton. Affectionately known as “the walking man”, he enjoyed long walks and hiking and could often be found reading a good book at home. Bob was a member of the Plymouth American Legion Post #40 and the National Association of Letter Carriers, Local 764.
Predeceased by his brothers, Edward F., Thomas C., and Paul J. Beath, and a sister, Virginia McGrath, he is survived by his nieces, nephews, grandnieces and nephews, and his devoted friend, Doris Wass of Brockton.
A memorial service will be held at the Roberts-Mitchell Funeral Home, 15 Miller Street, Medfield, on Saturday, May 22nd at 10:00a.m. Burial with military honors will follow at Mount Benedict Cemetery in West Roxbury.

Sullivan, Edmund J, MILLIS: Edmund J. “Cy” Sullivan, age 78, of Millis where he has been a resident for 10 years, died unexpectedly on Saturday, April 24th, 2010 at the MetroWest Medical Center in Natick.
Born in Boston, he was the son of the late Michael J. and Honora (Costello) Sullivan and was educated in the Boston Public Schools graduating from Hide Park High School with the class of 1950.
A former long time resident of Hyde Park, Cy worked for Allied Container Corp in Boston for 1 year prior to enlisting in the US Army and serving his country during the Korean War. Upon discharge, he went to work for the New England Telephone and Telegraph Company where he stayed until his retirement in 1995.
Cy is a member of IBEW (International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers) Local #2222, Quincy and was a councilor with the Gavin House in South Boston. He enjoyed travel, the Patriots and was an avid reader.
Loving husband of Marilyn L. (Conlon) Sullivan, he also leaves 4 sons, Edmund J. Sullivan Jr and his wife Diana of Boston, Matthew R. Sullivan of Lewiston, ME, James B. Sullivan and his wife Kerry of Medway, and Timothy P. Sullivan of Vienna, VA. He is the brother of Mary Harting of Milton, James Sullivan of Canton, Eileen Donlan of Enfield, CT, William Sullivan of Peabody, and John Sullivan and Catherine Caliguire both of Randolph, 7 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. He was predeceased by 3 brothers, Michael, Richard and Lawrence Sullivan and a sister Margaret Larkin.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday, April 28th at 11:00AM at St. Thomas the Apostle Church, 82 Exchange Street, Millis. The US Army will present military honors following the Mass.

Campbell, Kathleen C., MEDWAY: Kathleen C. (Tighe) Campbell, 50, of Medway, died unexpectedly on Friday evening, April 23rd, 2010 while visiting her mother in Medfield.
Born August 12, 1959 in Boston the was the loving daughter of Audrey (Gruhn) Tighe of Medfield and the late William Tighe. A former resident of Medfield, she was a 1977 graduate of the Medfield High School.
Kathleen had been employed for some 14 years by Stratus Computer Company of Maynard, but was probably better known for her enormous smile and sense of humor at the Budabing’s 50’s Café in Millis where she has been employed for the past several years. She was also known as the #1 “Hockey Mom”, and enjoyed camping and the Red Sox as well.
The Campbell, Yoke and Tighe families will always remember her as a constant in our lives as a loving family member and with a never ending drive to give and help anyone in need.
In addition to her mother, Kathleen leaves her husband Thomas P. Campbell, a son Thomas W. Campbell also of Medway, a sister Elaine M. Yoke of Medfield, a nephew Joshua Yoke, and nieces Haley and Samantha Yoke all of Medfield.

Paulli, Michael Joseph, age 87, of Norfolk, died on Wednesday night, April 21, 2010, at Norwood Hospital in Norwood.
Born in Mount Kisco, NY, on August 1, 1922, he was a son of the late Paul and Josephine (Rosato) Paulli. Mike was a graduate of Mount Kisco High School where he was captain of the football team. He then served with the US Navy during World War II in the European and American Theatres.
After high school Mike was employed with Asiatic Petroleum (now Scallop Petroleum) starting in the Cable Department in 1941 and retiring as Vice President in 1977. During this time he and his family moved to Caracas, Venezuela in 1968 where Mike became Director of Shell Venezuela. The family returned to the States in 1971 and Mike officially retired from Scallop Petroleum in 1977. Mike continued working in the oil industry, joining Axel Johnson Inc., a Swedish based company and helped them establish a subsidiary company for trading and refining oil.
Mike married Joan Raynor (Mt. Vernon, NY) on September 7, 1946 and in 2009 they celebrated their 63rd wedding anniversary. During their 63 years of marriage Mike and Joan travelled extensively around the world to places such as England, Holland, Sweden, Brazil, Argentina, and Peru.
Mike and Joan’s first home was in Levittown, NY. During their life together they lived in Mt Vernon, NY; Mamaroneck, NY; Redding, CT; Westport, CT; and finally in retirement to Savannah, GA. Mike and Joan also owned a condominium in Manchester, VT where they spent summers playing golf and enjoying time with family and friends. In 2006 Mike and Joan moved to their current home in Norfolk, MA to be closer to family.
Mike was an enthusiastic golfer. And after 50 years of playing the sport, he finally scored his first hole-in-one in January 1997, and then his second hole-in-one in May 2000. Mike enjoyed watching baseball and football. He also enjoyed dancing with Joan, twirling her on every dance floor he could find.
He is remembered by his family as a friend, a father, a grandfather, and great-grandfather. All remember him as a big hunk of love.
He is survived by his wife, Joan (Raynor) Paulli; a daughter, Barbara Thalacker and husband James of Milroy, MN; a son, Peter Paulli and wife Peggy of Millis; a sister, Yolanda Semproni of Sandy Hook, CT; a brother, Paul Paulli, Jr. of Charleston, TN; five grandchildren, Reagen, Jeremy, and Emily Thalacker, and Christopher and Norah Paulli; and two great-grandchildren, Elijah and Callia Thalacker. He was also a brother of the late Eugene Paulli.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Saint Jude’s Church, 86 Main Street, Norfolk, Monday, Apr. 26th at 10:30a.m. Burial with military honors will follow at Norfolk Cemetery.

Zernoski, Genevieve A. (Stahovich), age 94, of Walpole, died on Friday morning, April 16, 2010, at Harrington House in Walpole.
Born in Wilkes-Barre, PA, she was a daughter of the late Andrew and Petronella (Polanski) Stahovich. She attended Wilkes-Barre Township High School.
Genevieve had been married to Vincent P. Zernoski for 64 years at the time of his death in 2004. They had made their home in Hamilton Square, NJ, for more than thirty years prior to settling in Walpole ten years ago. The Zernoskis were active with Our Lady of Sorrows Parish in Hamilton, and at St. Timothy’s Parish, Norwood, after their move.
Genevieve and Vincent were married in the Cathedral in San Juan, Puerto Rico in 1940 and lived in Puerto Rico for two years while Vincent managed the electrical work for the construction of a navy airfield. Later they moved to Philadelphia where Vincent worked on the construction of submarines at Cramps Shipyard during the war. They settled in Haddon Heights, NJ after the war and lived there for 17 years. Genevieve enjoyed many trips to Europe and throughout the United States, loved walking outdoors and was an avid reader of history and philosophy.
She is survived by her two daughters Claire A. Hangen and her husband Richard of Medfield and Christine G. Falls and her husband James of Fairfax, VA. She is also survived by her four grandchildren: Susan Hangen and her husband Tika Gurung of New York City, NY, Eric Hangen and his wife Heidie Vazquez-Garcia of Cranston, RI, Patricia Falls and her husband Rick Gonzales of Tucson, AZ, and Emily Falls and her husband Matthew Peters of Seattle, WA, and four great-grandchildren: Isabella and Cecilia Gallerani, Jaya Gurung and Iren Hangen-Vazquez . She is also survived by her sister, Josephine Hanes of Monroe Twp, NJ.
A Committal Service with be held at Our Lady of Lourdes Cemetery, 400 Woolsey Street, Trenton, NJ, on Saturday, Apr. 24th at 11:00 a.m.

Suereth, Gwendolen Kingsbury, age 89, of North Conway, NH, passed away peacefully on April 16, 2010. She was born September 7, 1920 in Medfield, MA, where she lived most of her life with her beloved husband of 56 years, Theodore F. Suereth. She was the daughter of the late Carlton W. and Mildred F. (Attwood) Kingsbury.
Known to many as “Kate” or “Oma”, she was a graduate of Medfield High School and the Chandler School of Boston. She was a descendent of one of the 13 original settlers of Medfield and a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution. Kate served as Administrative Secretary to the Medfield Board of Assessors from 1947 until her retirement in 1976.
Kate enjoyed bowling, reading and crosswords, but perhaps her fondest pastime was travel, making over 25 trips to Germany with her husband to visit her daughter and her family. She also loved spending time with her children and grandchildren.
Kate was pre-deceased by her husband in 1999, and her sister, Priscilla Morton, but leaves her son, Eric T. Suereth and wife Nadine of Sanford, FL, and Westwood; her daughter, Rebecca and son-in-law Kent Nutting of North Conway, NH; two brothers, Allan A. Kingsbury of Gilmanton, NH, and George W. Kingsbury of Medfield. She also leaves several loving grandchildren, great- grandchildren, nieces, nephews and countless friends.
A graveside service to be held at Vine Lake Cemetery, 625 Main Street (Rte. 109), Medfield, will be announced.

Strom, Stanley G., age 71, of Bridgton, Maine, formerly of Medfield, died on Monday, April 12, 2010, at his Vero Beach home after a debilitating illness.
Born in Boston on July 6, 1938, he was the son of the late Stanley C. and Marion (Chappell) Strom. Stanley was a 1956 graduate of the Boston Latin School, received a Bachelor of Education from Boston State College and then earned a Master of Education Administration from Framingham State College.
Stanley was a long time resident of Medfield and had been employed as an educator, administrator, and guidance counselor at various times in Hopkinton, Concord, Scituate, North Andover, and Millis and Blackstone Valley Technical High School. He retired to Bridgton ten years ago after having maintained his home on Long Lake for 26 years. A former CYO coach and Little League coach, Stanley had been an active with the Boston Latin Alumni. His enjoyments included sailing and boating, skiing, playing golf, and involvement in his grandchildren’s sporting endeavors and activities.
Predeceased by a daughter, Ann Marie Strom Hollis, he is survived by his wife of more than 50 years, M. Carol (Coghlin) Strom; a son, Stanley G. “Skip” Strom, Jr. of Woburn; two daughters, Karen Strom Kelson and husband Brian of Turner, ME, and Jamie Strom Mantz of Medfield; and eight grandchildren, Michael, Mary Beth, Melissa, Ricky, Austin, Courtney, Kyle, and Elliot.

Scott, Robert H. , age 73, of Milton, formerly of Westwood, died on April 10, 2010, at the Ellis Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Norwood.
Born in Boston on November 11, 1936, he was a son of the late Thomas and Louise (Forrester) Scott. He enlisted in the Army in 1959 and served as a Sergeant.
Mr. Scott had been employed throughout his career in auto body repair work. He was employed by Peter Fuller Cadillac, Palmer Cadillac and Avis Rental Car. It was then when he ventured out on his own and started Scotty’s Auto Body Shop of Dedham. Some of Scotty’s hobbies were snowmobiling and ATVing . His accomplishments were remodeling his home in New Hampshire and restoring many classic cars. He was a member of the Stick Shifts Car Club and Old Colony Ski Club.
He is survived by five children, Robert H. Scott Jr., Craig Scott, Loren Gonser, Garrett Scott and Bradford Scott; his brothers and sisters, Donald Scott, Madilyn Castellano, Ann Yankura and Paul Scott; and eleven grandchildren.
Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Wednesday April 14th at 10a.m. at Saint Edward the Confessor church, 133 Spring Street (Route 27), Medfield. Burial will be private. Minkle, Bradford A., age 56, died peacefully at his Franklin home on Thursday morning, April 8, 2010, surrounded by his loving family after a 19 month battle with cancer. He was the husband of Corine A. (Civitella) Minkle.
Born September 21, 1953, he was the son of the late Ken and Mary Ann (Parker) Minkle of Needham. He was educated in the Needham Schools and was a graduate of Dean College. Brad was self employed in construction until his illness forced him to stop working in January of last year.
Brad fought the disease courageously, and when you saw him he was always positive. A devoted husband, father, and grandfather, he enjoyed the outdoors, riding his motorcycles, cars, travel, and spending time with family and friends.
In addition to his wife of 33 years, Brad is survived by his only daughter, Tracy M. Schneider and her husband Erik of NJ; two precious grandchildren, Owen and Tayla Schneider; two sisters, Glenda Metcalf of ME, and Vivian Minkle of MA; and many special friends.
A Memorial Service will be held at the Roberts-Mitchell Funeral Home, 15 Miller Street, Medfield, on Monday, Apr. 12th at 10:00a.m. Burial will be private.

Curran, Roma Louise (King), age 83, a lifelong resident of Millis, died on Tuesday morning, April 6, 2010, at Thomas Upham House in Medfield.
Born in Millis on March 15, 1927, she was the daughter of the late Mildred Louise (Mitchell) and Lloyd Coldwell King. Her father served as Town Clerk at home while Roma was growing up and she often worked with him after school. She graduated from Millis High School in 1944 and furthered her education at the Kathleen Dell Business School. She worked for a time as a secretary at a large pharmaceutical company in Boston.
Roma was employed for several years as a Millis Police and Fire dispatcher before becoming the Assistant Town Clerk in 1961. She continued in this position until 1988 when she became Town Clerk. Roma was elected to the position twice before returning to the Assistant Clerk’s duties in 1996. During her 44 years of service to the town, she also filled the roles of Registrar of Voters, Planning Board Secretary, and Assistant Burial Agent. Roma retired in 2004.
She is survived by her husband, Harold E. Curran, and a son, John Curran of Millis. She was also the sister of the late Stuart and Preston “Bud” King.
A Memorial Service will be held at the Church of Christ Congregational, 142 Exchange Street, Millis, on Saturday, Apr. 10th at 11:00a.m.

Aulenback, Richard Harris "Stretch", age 80, of Estero, Florida, formerly of Millis, died on Thursday, April 1, 2010, at Gulf Coast Regional Medical Center in Fort Myers, Florida.
Born in Winchester on May 1, 1929, he was the son of Harris S. and Helen R. (Galaner) Aulenback. Stretch was raised and educated in Millis and was President of the 1946 graduating class of Millis High School. Following his graduation from Burdett College, he served with the U.S. Marines Corps during the Korean War.
Stretch was employed as a financial manager at the former Norfolk County Trust Company for 16 years prior to working 26 years as a financial administrator with the Stride Rite Corporation/Herman Shoe. He served eight years as Millis Tax Collector and in 1977 he was elected Millis Town Treasurer, a position he held until his retirement in 1996. His devotion to the town kept him busy most evenings and weekends, but he enjoyed the work. Stretch is remembered as a loving husband, father, and grandfather.
He is survived by his wife, Virginia (Gardner) Aulenback; a son, Richard H. Aulenback, Jr., and wife Tammy of Millis; two daughters, Jill Marie Aulenback of Millis and Donna Lee Aulenback of Ashland; four stepchildren, Michael Riley of Blackstone, David Riley of Bellingham, Douglas Riley of Framingham, and Lynn Riley of Myrtle Beach, SC; four grandchildren, Amanda, Brad, and Kasey Aulenback, and Nicholas Grieve; and 31 step-grandchildren. He was also the step-dad of the late Mark Riley.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Saint Thomas the Apostle Church, 82 Exchange Street, Millis, on Wednesday, April 7th at 10:00a.m. Burial with Military Honors will follow at Prospect Hill Cemetery.

Buchanan, Betty J. , age 81, a longtime Millis resident, died early Sunday morning, March 21, 2010, at St. Patrick’s Manor in Framingham.
Born in Glidden, IA, she was a daughter of the late William and Alvena (Fields) Heuton. Betty was raised in Jonesboro, AK, and was a graduate of Jonesboro High School. She continued her education, taking undergraduate courses in business.
Betty was living in St. Louis, MO when she met her future husband, Jack Ritchie Buchanan. They married in 1953 and lived in several eastern Massachusetts towns prior to settling in Millis in 1971. Betty had worked for several years at Kennedy’s department store and had enjoyed an active membership with St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Millis. She is remembered as having loved life and family, enjoying long walks and spending time at the beach.
Predeceased by her husband in 2008, she is survived by three sons, Gary W. Buchanan and wife Bonnie of Belchertown, Stephen G. Buchanan and wife Carol of Webster, and Jack R. Buchanan, Jr. and wife Barbara of Uxbridge; a daughter, Heather M. Guerrero and husband Hernan of Medway; four sisters, Lorene Perkey and Arlene Dixson of Jonesboro, AR, Ladene Raney of Love Park, IL, and Shirley McIver of Abington; seven grandchildren, Jessica, Jennifer, Kaitlyn, Michael, John, Christopher, and Anthony; two great-grandchildren, Jacob and Arianna; and many nieces and nephews. She was also a sister of the late Warren Heuton, Wilma Ulrich, and Jean Bell.
Her funeral service will be at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, 903 Main Street, Millis, on Friday, Mar. 26th at 11:00a.m. Burial will follow at Prospect Hill Cemetery.

Syberts, Edward J., age 83, of Millis, died peacefully on Saturday night, March 20, 2010, at the Medway Country Manor.
Born in Boston on March 5, 1927, he was the son of the late Alphonse and Josephine (Fall) Syberts. Ed was raised in Millis and was a graduate of the Norfolk Agricultural School. He served with the Navy for eight years, aboard the USS Thuban during World War II and the USS Shangri La during the Korean War. After returning from the Pacific he lived in Milton.
Ed was employed for forty years as a commercial appliance service technician with White/Westinghouse. After living many years on their Edraz Farm in Milton, he and his wife moved their farm operation to Millis in 1990. Ed took joy in working with the young horses bred and raised at their farm and was a constant support to his wife’s and the farm students’ pursuits of equine competitions.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Lee (“Raz”) Metcalf Syberts; a sister, Dorothy Najar of New Hampshire; and several cousins, nieces, and nephews. He was also the brother of the late Marjorie Doucette.
Relatives and friends may gather at the Roberts-Mitchell Funeral Home, 15 Miller Street, Medfield, on Saturday, Mar. 27th at 10:00a.m. for a funeral service to be held at 11:00a.m.
Burial with military honors will follow at Prospect Hill Cemetery.

White, Theodore F., age 80, died at his Medway home on Thursday afternoon, March 18, 2010, after a long illness.
Born in Melrose on November 20, 1929, he was a son of the late Margaret M. (Gill) and Theodore J. White, Jr. He was raised and educated in Millis and served with the Navy during the Korean War.
Ted worked with the B&M Railroad as a fireman for several years prior to learning to service oil burners under Don Clowes of Framingham. He was then employed as an oil burner serviceman with Coan Oil Company of Natick for over thirty years.
An avid camper, he was a longtime member of the North American Family Camping Association. Ted was a 50 year member of the Millis American Legion Post 208 and also belonged to the Holliston Sportsmen’s Club and the Teamsters’ Local #25. He enjoyed woodworking and gardening. A former sprint car racer, Ted was also a NASCAR fan.
He is survived by his wife, F. Marietta (Lightbody) White; a son, Theodore Everett White and wife Candace of Barrington, NH; two grandchildren, Everett Theodore and Courtney Louise White, both of Barrington; two brothers, Phillip White and wife Elizabeth of Franklin and Robert White and wife Elizabeth of Mendon; a sister, Marjorie Johnson of Concord, NH; and many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.
His funeral service will be held at the Roberts-Mitchell Funeral Home, 90 Curve Street, Millis, on Sunday, March 21st at 5:00p.m. Visiting hours will precede the service from 2 – 5p.m. Burial at Prospect Hill Cemetery will be private.

Kneer, William Charles, age 84, of Medfield, suddenly on Monday morning, March 15, 2010, at Caritas Norwood Hospital.
Born in New York, NY, on December 21, 1925, he was the only child of the late William A. and Helen (Hensler) Kneer. Bill was a graduate of Eastside High School in Paterson, NJ, and then served with the Navy Air Corps during World War II. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in mechanical engineering at New York University after the war.
Bill was employed throughout his career as an engineering contract salesman. He held sales positions with various firms in Maryland, Connecticut, and ultimately, Massachusetts. Married in 1948, he and his wife have made their home in Medfield since 1959.
An enthusiastic pilot since learning to fly in the Navy, Bill and his wife enjoyed going for day trips in their Cessna until recently. He was an avid skier and for many years headed the ski patrol at Blue Hills. An outdoorsman, he was a regular jogger, hiker and canoeist. He also volunteered along the route of the Boston Marathon and was a past Medfield Little League coach.
He is survived by his wife, Mildred (Jackson) Kneer; a son, Richard W. Kneer of Norwood; three daughters, Deirdre K. “Dee” Mead of Norfolk, Diane M. Gates and husband Paul of Boone, NC, and Deborah Drisko of Sharon; and six grandchildren, Douglas W. Mead, Daniel D. Mead, Dustin A. Mead, Jennifer H. Drisko, John R. Drisko, and Tyler A. Drisko.
A memorial service will be held at the Roberts-Mitchell Funeral Home, 15 Miller Street, Medfield, on Friday, Mar. 19th at 11:00a.m.

Ettinger, Shirley E. (Crook), age 83, of Tiger, GA, died on Wednesday, March 10, 2010, at the Gwinnett Medical Center in Lawrenceville, GA, after a long illness.
Born in Hartford, CT, on July 2, 1926, she was a daughter of the late George D. and Margaret (MacDonald) Crook. She was raised in Hyde Park and was a graduate of Hyde Park High School. Shirley continued her education at the Boston Lying-in Hospital School of Nursing. A devout Christian, the seeds planted in her youth at the Hyde Park Baptist Church grew strong throughout her life.
Shirley was a long time military wife of the late Weldon Ettinger and made homes for her growing family in such places as Cape May, NJ, Hawaii, Long Beach, CA, and Guantanamo Bay, Cuba. She was the manager of the Navy Exchange Dry Cleaning Plant while stationed at Jacksonville N.A.S. for many years. After spending time in Foxboro, Shirley returned to Florida and was employed as the switchboard supervisor at the Mayo Clinic/St. Luke’s Hospital in Jacksonville for over ten years. She spent her retirement years in Georgia. Shirley loved to play Scrabble and travel.
She is survived by four children, Cynthia M. Martino of Jacksonville, FL, Thomas C. Ettinger and wife Helen of Lakemont, GA, Susan Pendleton and Ronald of Tiger, GA, and Marjorie Trimpe and husband Eric of Bedford, TX; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by a brother, Edward E. Crook of Stoughton, and a sister, Dorothy Crook Mitchell of Foxboro and Medfield.
Her services are under arrangement and will be announced.

Sexton, Frederick C., age 90, a former long time resident of Medfield, died on Sunday, February 28, 2010, at Halifax Medical Center in Daytona Beach, Florida.
Fred was born and raised in Westwood and lived much of his adult life in Medfield. He was a retired engineer assistant with the Honeywell Aerospace Corporation. A former member of St. Edward the Confessor Parish in Medfield, Fred had been an active member of Epiphany Catholic Church in Port Orange since settling there in 1982. He was a devoted family man and is remembered as a very good neighbor who was always ready to help others. He enjoyed woodworking.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Nathalene “Nat” Sexton; three sons, Eugene Sexton, Paul Sexton, and David Sexton, all of Ponce Inlet, FL; a sister, Ruth Shade of Sanbornville, NH; and several nieces and nephews. Fred was predeceased by a sister Sally of Westwood and a brother John of Medfield.

Sluicer, Geoffrey C. K.,, age 48, of Brookline, died suddenly at Tufts Medical Center in Boston on Saturday evening, March 6, 2010.
Born in New York, NY, on January 7, 1962, he was a son of the late Kenneth R. and Janice (Cady) Sluicer. He was raised and educated in Millis and was a graduate of Worcester Polytechnic Institute where he earned a BS with the Computer Science Class of 1984. A talented keyboard player, he was voted the MVP of the 1980 State Champion Millis High Jazz Band.
Geoff was employed throughout his career with some of the leading High Tech firms in the Boston area. In one position with a company involved with health care, he was doing advanced work on a device designed to improve the outcomes of patients undergoing heart surgery.
He loved music, reading, current events, and investing, and took great pleasure in his vast collections of CDs, videos, and reading materials. Geoff traveled often, both domestically and abroad, and had recently settled in Brookline. A member of Trinity Church and a member and choir member of the Old South Church in Boston, he had a strong faith and a love of God.
He is survived by a brother, Christopher C. Sluicer of Woodstock, VT.

Jones, Gerald J., , age 40, of Wrentham, formerly of Franklin and Medfield, died on Saturday, February 27, 2010, at Brigham and Women’s Hospital after a long illness.
Born in Boston in 1969, he was the loving son of Valerie (Picone) Jones of Wrentham and the late Paul Jones. Gerry was a 1987 graduate of Medfield High School.
Gerry was employed with Westborough State Hospital as a medical records administrator after fifteen years with Medfield State Hospital. His hobbies were stenciling, photography and restoring Early American homes and furniture. Gerry owned and renovated the Guild-Kollock House, one of the oldest homes in Wrentham. He also had a passion for genealogy and a love for animals.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by an aunt and many uncles and cousins. He was the stepson of the late Phyllis Squires (Foof) Jones.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian burial at 11:00a.m. on Wednesday, March 3rd at St. Jude Church, 86 Main St., Norfolk. Bond, Beverly Parker, age 86, of Medfield, died surrounded by family on Sunday evening, February 21, 2010, at the Mary Ann Morse Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Natick.
Born in Needham on January 21, 1924, she was a daughter of the late Frank E. and Olive E. (Fuller) Parker. Beverly was a 1942 graduate of Needham High School and earned a Bachelor of Science in education from the University of New Hampshire in 1945.
A deeply loving and caring mother and loyal and caring friend, Beverly will be missed by many who were touched by her life. Beverly married her life partner, George W. Bond, in 1945, and for the next thirty years they made their home in various locations within Quebec, Ontario, and Illinois. George’s last manufacturing assignment brought them to Medfield in 1975. After his retirement, George and Beverly continued to stay professionally involved with their real estate investments. They were active members of the communities in which they lived.
Beverly is survived by two daughters, Charlotte and Deborah; two sons, Tracy, and Christopher; eight grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
A Memorial Service will be held at the United Church of Christ, 496 Main Street (Rte. 109) Medfield, on Friday, Feb. 26th at 11:00a.m.

Parrella, Jean M. (Casey), 67, of Franklin where she has been a resident for the past 18 years, died Sunday, February 14th, 2010, at her home surrounded by her loving family.
Born March 10th, 1942 in Milford, she was the daughter of the late James and Mary (Palma) Casey. Jean was educated in the Millis Public Schools with the class of 1960.
Formerly of Medway and Millis, Jean had been employed for many years with the W.A. Wilde Company in Holliston until her retirement in 2005.
Jean enjoyed cooking and loved playing cards with her friends. Her biggest enjoyment in life was her family, especially the grandchildren, her friends and her home.
Jean leaves three children, John L. Parrella and his wife Patricia of Franklin, Christine M. O’Rourke and her husband Christopher of Milford and Brian M. Parrella and his fiancé Aoife Carney of Quincy, two sisters, Eileen Trombetta of Marlborough and Patricia Whalen of Norton, as well as 4 grandchildren, Amanda and Andrew Parrella and Katelyn and Molly O’Rourke.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday, February 18th at 10:00AM at St. Thomas the Apostle Church, 82 Exchange Street, Millis. Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery, Marlborough.

Carmichael, Wayne A., 82, of Millis where he has been a resident since 1954, died at home surrounded by his loving family on Thursday, February 4th, 2010.
Born in Gardner, he was the son of the late Albert B. and Annie (Alley) Carmichael, and was educated in Dorchester Public Schools graduating with the class of 1945. Wayne continued his education at U.C.L.A. where he majored in Business Administration.
Formerly of Medfield, he was the retired owner/proprietor of the Tri-County Industrial Cleaning Company.
Wayne was a Sergeant in the United States Army Air Corps, having entered the Corps August of 1944, and serving in the Pacific Theater. He was honorably discharged in May of 1949 having earned a Good Conduct Medal, the Occupation Medal and the Purple Heart.
A life member of Millis AMVETS Post 495 and Medway VFW Post 1526, Wayne was also a long time member of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Millis. He was a former member of the Charles River Masonic Lodge in Medway and the Medfield Acacia Club.
Wayne leaves his wife of 58 years, Pauline L. (Robinson) Carmichael, 2 sons, Donald S. Carmichael of Erie, PA, and Derek T. Carmichael and his wife Lynn of Franklin, a daughter, Debra A. Mattson and her husband Bruce of Bellingham, and 7 grandchildren, Elizabeth R., Christine A., Adam Wayne, Amber L., and Andrew R. Carmichael, Jamieson A., and Sarah R. Mattson. He was also predeceased by a son, David W. Carmichael.

Stockbridge, Alberta L., age 83, of Millis, formerly of New Port Richey, FL, and Medfield, died on Thursday morning, February 4, 2010, at the Edith Nourse Rogers Memorial Veteran's Hospital in Bedford.
Born in Medfield on June 22, 1926, she was the daughter of the late Burton R. and Gladys (Murray) Rawding. Alberta was a 1944 graduate of Medfield High School where she had been an outstanding basketball player. She served in the United States Air Force during the Korean War with the Women's Air Command attached to the Military Air Transport. She was very proud of her solo flight in Fitchburg and continued her love of flying all her life. She was an outstanding artist that specialized in portraits having her art work shown in galleries in New Port Richey, FL. Her talents in country western music were performed in the minstrel shows in Medfield where she was known for her harmonizing with sister Elaine “Minnie” Taylor and her husband, Wally. She was also known for her quick wit and care for others including being the Grand Chief of the Pythian Sisters. She worked at the Medfield State Hospital and was the Treasurer-Secretary for Bison Transportation Co.
Predeceased by her husband, Wallace A. Stockbridge, Jr., she is survived by four children, Gary G. Stockbridge and wife Becky of Franklin, Wallace A. Stockbridge, III, and wife Donna of Natick, John H. Stockbridge and wife Deborah of Ashburnham, and Gail A. Vieira of Franklin: eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Tobiasson, Bruce Otto, owner of Waterfront Design Associates of Medfield, died on Wednesday morning, February 3, 2010, at the Thomas Upham House after a long illness.
Born in Cambridge on September 22, 1943, he was a son of the late Nils H. and Helen (Jorgenson) Tobiasson. Bruce was a 1961 graduate of Belmont High School and continued his education at Northeastern University, earning a Bachelor of Science in 1967.
Bruce began his career as a civil engineer with Crandall Dry Dock Engineering in Cambridge prior to settling in Medfield to work with Childs Engineering in 1969. He founded Waterfront Design Associates over twenty-five years ago and concentrated on building marinas and small craft harbors, a niche which would lead him to projects all over the world. Locally, his designs include waterfront facilities at the Charles River Yacht Club, Marina Bay, Fan Pier and Pier 4, Constitution Marina in Charlestown, the Northeastern University Henderson Boathouse, and berthing arrangements for the USS Salem in Quincy. He authored an internationally recognized reference book, “Marinas and Small Craft Harbors” (1991). Bruce taught marina management courses at the Massachusetts Maritime Academy and was an adjunct professor at the University of Wisconsin, Madison. He had also written extensively on Marine subjects and lectured about marina development on five continents. He was a founding member of the International Marina Institute.
A dedicated Coast Guard Auxiliary volunteer for 48 years, Bruce most recently served in many capacities with Flotilla 25-02 in New London, CT. Among his myriad contributions were working as a vessel examiner and a past Division Captain for Division 25. He was appointed an Honorary Chief in the United States Coast Guard in January 2009. Bruce had logged in excess of 1400 volunteer hours in 2006 alone. A certified marine diver, he held a Coast Guard Masters License. His passion was for the sea and his boat, the Westviking, a trawler docked in Old Saybrook, CT. He was a master of marine safety and enjoyed sharing his knowledge with his Coast Guard colleagues and fellow boaters.
Bruce was very active civically in Medfield, having served as both Commissioner and on the board of the Water and Sewer Commission for many years. He also served on the Long Range Planning Commission, and in the 1990s, had headed the Medfield High School Music Association.
He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Susan (Dahlberg) Tobiasson; a daughter, Kristina T. Elias and her husband Christian of Waltham; a granddaughter, Madison; a brother, Wayne N. Tobiasson and his wife Elizabeth of Etna, NH; and three nieces, Wendy, Becky, and Kirstin.

Lesbirel, John Edward, age 58, a resident of Millis, died on Sunday morning, January 31, 2010, at the Tippett Home in Needham.
Born in Boston on May 12, 1951, he was a son of the late Edward A. and Marjorie R. (Hall) Lesbirel. He was raised and educated in Newton, where he lived until 1993.
John was employed with Anomet Products of Shrewsbury for 33 years as a metallurgical engineer. A computer whiz, he also enjoyed railroad history and collecting model trains.
He is survived by his fiancé, Cynthia Moore of Needham; a son, James E. Lesbirel of Millis; two brothers, Peter T. Lesbirel and wife Petra of Natick and Paul J. Lesbirel and wife Deborah Lane of Millis; and a sister, Midge Mirabella of South Carolina.
His funeral service will be held at the Roberts-Mitchell Funeral Home, 90 Curve Street, Millis, on Friday, Feb. 5th at 11:00a.m. Burial will follow at Prospect Hill Cemetery.

Gillis, Michael David, age 49, died suddenly on Wednesday morning, January 20, 2010, at his home in Millis.
Born in Boston on August 19, 1960, he was a son of Michael A. and Pat (O’Keefe) Gillis of Millis. He was raised and educated in Millis.
Michael had been employed throughout Massachusetts for several years, primarily in the food and wine industry and in carpentry, prior to moving to Oahu, Hawaii twenty years ago. While there he continued his education and established a massage therapy practice. He returned to Millis this past September and had most recently enjoyed working with his friend, Phil Marcou at Very Beautiful Things.
A loving son, brother, and uncle, he is remembered for his engaging personality, his devotion to his many friends, his dedication to environmental issues, an encyclopedic memory and voracious appetite for reading. He had a strong propensity for sharing his opinions with others. Michael had a great love for the ocean and particularly liked sailing and kayaking. One of his fondest memories was time spent on an expedition aboard the Sea Shepherd several years ago.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by two sisters, Lori Giandomenico and husband David of Walpole and Janine Schultze and husband Craig of Millis; a brother, Matthew J. Gillis and wife Lily Eynon of Gloucester; his nieces and nephews, Alexandra, Kristina, Caroline, Sam, Rocco, James, Andrew, Hunter, and Hayley; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.

Born in Sulmona, Italy, on March 3, 1922, she was a daughter of the late Carmen and Regina (Traficanti) Mastrangelo. She immigrated to Dorchester where she resided prior to settling in Medfield in 1957.
Letitia had been employed as a stitcher with Baron Abrahamson clothing manufacturers in Boston for over forty years. She had also been a communicant of Saint Edward the Confessor Church in Medfield.
Wife the late John F. Civetti and Victor D’Angelo, and former wife of Frank E. Williams, she is survived by two daughters, Nina Schermerhorn and husband Henry of Medfield and Diana Bratsos and husband Matthew of Millis; a stepson, Raymond Civetti and wife Trudy of West Barnstable; many grand and great-grandchildren; a brother, John Mastrangelo of Braintree; and a sister, Livia Pasco of East Boston. She was also the sister of the late Elena Pirrotta.
Relatives and friends may visit with the family on Friday, Jan. 22nd at 10:00a.m. at Saint Edward the Confessor Church, 133 Spring Street (Route 27), Medfield, and join them for a Mass of Christian Burial at 12:00noon. Burial will follow at Vine Lake Cemetery.

Kinlin, Carol M. (Austin) Gatie, age 70, a former longtime resident of Norfolk, died on Sunday evening, January 10, 2010, at her Millis home.
Born in Franklin on December 19, 1939, she was a daughter of the late Harold F. and Agnes M. (Woodman) Austin. She was educated with the Franklin High School Class of 1957, and later married Lawrence J. Gatie. The couple had lived in San Diego and Boston while he was in the service. They later settled in Norfolk.
Carol enjoyed a long career as a line technician with New England Telephone under its various nomenclatures. She had been a member of the Amvets Post 495 Ladies’ Auxiliary in Millis and the Franklin Lodge of Elks Post 2136. Among Carol was happiest when spending time with her grandchildren and also liked playing golf, shuffleboard, cribbage, and pitch.
Beloved wife of Robert P. Kinlin from the time of their marriage in 1980 until his death in 1993, she is survived by two daughters, Donna L. Roche and husband Tom of Millis and Ann Marie Keyser and husband Bill of Norfolk; two sons, Lawrence J. Gatie, Jr. of St. Petersburg, FL, and Brian P. Gatie of Millis; 12 grandchildren, Daryll, Stephen, Brad, Ryan, Scott, Tommy, BJ, Wesley, Brendon, Michelle, Dina, and Nicole Rose; and three great-grandchildren, Tessa, Tristan, and Taylor. She was predeceased by a son, Thomas H. Gatie; two brothers, Joseph and Donald Austin; and two sisters, Lois Wilson and Betty Williams.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Saint Jude Church, 86 Main Street, Norfolk, on Friday, Jan. 15th at 10:00a.m. Burial will follow at Norfolk Cemetery.

Edward J. Drozdick, 85, of Medfield where he has been a resident since 1956, died peacefully at his home on Wednesday, December 30, 2009.
Born in Everett, MA, he was the son of the late Michael Drozdzik and Katherine (Keck) Drozdzik-Taylor.
A graduate of Milwaukee School of Engineering, he had been employed for almost 30 years by the Sylvania Corporation. He retired in 1983.
Mr. Drozdick was a World War II Veteran having served with the Navy in the Pacific Theatre aboard the USS Makin Island, CVE 93, and the USS Breton, CVE 23.
He leaves his beloved wife of 56 years, Helen (Rymut) Drozdick, 2 brothers, Henry Drozdik of Apple Valley, CA and Francis Drozdick of No. Andover, MA and Florida, and many nephews and nieces. He was predeceased by a sister Helen Kramer.
Relatives and friends may gather Friday morning, January 8th from 8:30 to 9:30 at the Roberts-Mitchell Funeral Home, 15 Miller Street, Medfield, prior to a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 at St. Edward the Confessor Church, 133 Spring Street, Medfield.

Morgan, Michael P., age 52, of Millis, formerly of Medfield, died after a brief illness on Sunday afternoon, December 27, 2009, at the MetroWest Medical Center in Natick.
Born in Natick on February 6, 1957, he was a son of the late Charles and Barbara (Murphy) Morgan. He was raised in Medfield and was a 1976 graduate of Medfield High School. Mike worked for most of his career as a shipper/receiver with the Raytheon Corporation.
Mike was a past commander of the Beckwith Post #110 Sons of The American Legion in Medfield, and a member of the Sons of Amvets Post 495 in Millis and the Medfield Sportsman’s Club. He loved to cook and one of his greatest pleasures was running “Michael’s Mess Hall” at the Medfield American Legion. Mike enjoyed deep sea fishing, routing for New England Sports teams, and was ardent in his fundraising efforts on behalf of veteran’s groups.
He is survived by his wife, Donna M. O’Neill; a daughter, Leigh A. Furbush and husband Garrett of Milford; a son, Justin M. Morgan and his fiancé Rochelle Boisclair of Uxbridge; a granddaughter, Alyssa Furbush; four brothers, Donald J. Ross and wife Barbara of Bourne, Robert P. Ross and fiancé Patsy Critchett of NH, Wayne A. Ross and JoAnn Callow of Medfield, Charles T. Morgan of FL; and several nieces and nephews. He was also a brother of the late Wanda L. Vienot.
His visiting hours will be at the Roberts-Mitchell Funeral Home, 15 Miller Street, Medfield, on Saturday, Jan. 2nd, at 1:00p.m. followed by a service at 3:00p.m.
Burial at Vine Lake Cemetery is planned for a later date.

Burke, Catherine F. (Doherty), age 87, better known as Kate or Kay, died at home on Wednesday morning, December 23, 2009, surrounded by her five children.
She was born in Everett,on January 4, 1922 to George and Ellen (Gallagher) Doherty. She was one of 11 children and is survived by her sister Cecilia O'Connor of Norwood, who was by her side the entire day before she died. Her siblings were; Mary McLaughlin, Joseph Doherty, Roseann Doherty,George Doherty, Betty Lewis, James Doherty, John Doherty, Cecilia O'Connor, Sister Rose Doherty and Andrew Doherty.
When she was six, her father died in the disastrous 1928 Beacon Oil explosion. Her mother died of pneumonia one year later leaving 9 children still at home. Her oldest sister Mary, then 19, went to Court to fight to keep them all together. With the help of their aunt and uncle they were able to remain together living in two floors of a triple-decker on Woodlawn Street in Forest Hills. She graduated from St. Thomas Aquinas High School in Jamaica Plain and took a job as a comptometer at Cambridge Rubber where she met her lifelong friend Marge (Duffy) Connors. When she had her own family, they spent vacations on the Cape with Marge and Jack in Eastham, spending night and day at Campground and Coast Guard Beaches.
She met her husband, Bill "Bud" or "Bucko" Burke on Woodlawn Street and upon his return from WWII, were married on May 4, 1946. They moved to Millis in 1955 and lived next door to another lifetime friend, Mary Henderson. She and Mary shared too many cups of tea to count. They also played Pitch with the same group of friends for over 40 years. Her card group was so important to her.
She worked for many years at St. Thomas Rectory after her children were all in school. She is survived by Bill, Roseann Adams, Jim, Fran and Kate (Kitty), 10 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. One of her greatest loves was to go and watch one of her grandchildren at whatever sport they were playing. She froze on the soccer field and sweated it out in the swimming pool whenever she could.
Kate also had a love of going to the casinos. She never won any money but that didn't matter, she would jump at any offer to go, especially when her grandchildren would take her.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Saint Thomas the Apostle Church, 82 Exchange Street, Millis, on Monday, Dec. 28th at 1:00p.m. Visiting hours will be at the Roberts-Mitchell Funeral Home, 15 Miller Street, Medfield, Sunday 3 – 6p.m.

Geer, Russell C., age 86, of Millis, died peacefully on Tuesday evening, December 22, 2009, at the Tippett Home in Needham.
Born in Beverly on January 18, 1923, he was the son of the late James Clifford and Inez Ruth (Tannebring) Geer. He was a 1941 graduate of Killingly High School in Danielson, Connecticut, and continued his education at General Motors Institute. He entered the Army and served with the 68th Armored Infantry Battalion in Central Europe during World War II.
Russ married Charlotte Warren on September 28, 1945, and they lived for many years in Needham prior to settling in Millis in 1982. He was service manager of Berejik Motors in Needham, and retired after more than fifty years with the company. Very active in community service, Russ had been a member of the Nehoiden Lodge, AF & AM of Needham since 1955 and had twice served as Commander of American Legion Post 208 in Millis. He was also a member of the Millis Lions Club, past president of the Bay State Antique Auto Club, a member of the Eastern Massachusetts GMO Chapter of the Oldsmobile Club of America, and involved with the Needham Retired Men’s Club. Russ had also been a deacon for many years at the First Baptist Church of Needham.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Charlotte Perkins Warren Geer; a daughter, Pamela Perkins Geer of Boulder, Colorado; a son, Russell C. Geer, Jr. and his wife Elizabeth of Dorchester; and two granddaughters, Anya Allyn Kolesnikoff and Sierra Rose Geer.
His funeral service was held at the Church of Christ, 142 Exchange Street, Millis, on Tuesday, Dec. 29th at 11:00a.m.
Graveside services with military honors will be held on Saturday, June 5th, 2010 at 11:00 AM at Westfield Cemetery, Danielson, CT.

Joyce, Norma R. (Brovelli), MILLIS: Norma Rosalie (Brovelli) Joyce, age 87, a longtime Millis resident, passed away peacefully Monday, December 21, 2009, at Medway Country Manor after a long and courageous battle with cancer.
Born in Milford on September 13, 1922, she was a daughter of the late Carlo and Teresa (Prestini) Brovelli. She was educated in the Milford and Millis school systems, graduating from Millis High in 1940.
Norma had been employed as an executive secretary with the Draper Corporation in Hopedale for twenty years. She was a devoted member of Saint Thomas the Apostle Parish. She loved music, dancing, travel and card games with her family.
Wife of the late William Joyce who died in 1982 and the former wife of Fred Standook of Milford, she is survived by her daughter, Andrea (Standook) DeSousa and husband John of Milford; a brother, Vasco Brovelli and wife Pauline of Holliston; two sisters, Doris Crichton of Foxboro and Livia Monroe of Wareham; two grandchildren, John A. DeSousa and wife Melissa of Milford and Angela Hagerty and husband Robert of Marshfield; as well as two great-grandchildren, Abigail and Jack Hagerty. She also leaves her loving extended Joyce family.

Fletchall, Sybil L. "Tibby" (Ashe), age 66, a former resident of Bellingham and Medfield, died on Sunday afternoon, December 20, 2009, at the Milford Regional Medical Center.
Born in Concord, NH, she was the daughter of the late James C. and J. Sybil (Spear) Ashe. Tibby was a member of the Medfield High School Class of 1961 and continued her education at the University of San Diego. She earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology, graduating magna cum laude.
Tibby was employed for many years as a sociologist in California prior to returning east and settling in Bellingham. She was a devoted mother and grandmother and had a special fondness for cats.
She is survived by her husband, Roger Fletchall; two daughters, Amy B. Stevens of Milford and Kristina L. Fletchall of Framingham; and six grandchildren. She was also predeceased by a daughter, Elizabeth S. Sears, and two brothers, D. Christopher and James C. Ashe, Jr.
A memorial service will be held at the Roberts-Mitchell Funeral Home, 15 Miller Street, Medfield, on Wednesday, Dec. 30th at 1:00p.m. Relatives and friends may visit with the family at noontime.

Howie, Virginia B. , age 91, of Millis where she has been a resident most of her life, died after a short illness on Friday, December 18, 2009, at Leonard Morse Hospital in Natick.
Born August 31st, 1918 in Medford, she was the daughter of the late Olin R. and Geraldine (Bowman) Howe. She was a 1936 graduate of Weymouth High School and a graduate of Massachusetts College of Art.
Mrs. Howie was a professional artist and creator of greeting cards with Russcraft in Boston upon graduation from art school in the early 40’s. During World War II, she helped run the family heating oil business while her husband, Sam, was serving in Europe. After the war, Mrs. Howie’s artistic creativity merged with her love of horticulture allowing her to author two published books and countless illustrations for many books and national and international publications.
Along with raising five boys, Mrs. Howie was involved with numerous clubs, committees and organizations in the town of Millis. She was known for her beautiful flower gardens and productive vegetable gardens but her true love was lilies. During the 1950’s, she was a founding member of the North American Lily Society and served as its president and later as a judge in many of the lily shows in North America as well as in Europe. She was responsible for creating many new lilies during her 50 years in the organization and for helping the Lily Society forge ties to the International Lily Society. Virginia was a long standing member of the Church of Christ in Millis.
Predeceased by her husband of 67 years, Sam Howie, she is survived by five sons, Tom Howie and his wife Kathy, Sam Howie Jr., Steve Howie and his wife Jan, Joel Howie, and Paul Howie, all of Millis, 8 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. She was also the sister of the late Olin Howe Jr., Ronald Howe, and Robert Howe.
Private services will be held at the convenience of Gini’s family with burial in the family plot at Prospect Hill Cemetery, Millis.

Bennett, Carl E. Jr., age 82, a Millis resident since 1936, died on Friday morning, December 18, 2009, at his home.
Born in Bellingham on February 23, 1927, he was one of six children born to the late Carl E. and Myrtle (Chase) Bennett Sr. He was raised and educated in Millis and served honorably with the US Navy aboard the USS Melucta during World War II.
Carl was a truck driver and heavy equipment operator all his life. He drove truck for the Atlantic Brick company in Medfield. When the brick company closed he went to work for Millis Transportation Company in Millis. Millis Transportation closed after many years and Carl retired from his driving career with the Town of Dover Highway Department.
Beloved husband of the late Winifred M. (Watson) he is survived by his children, Thomas W. Bennett (Denise) of Croydon, New Hampshire. Holly A. Bennett (Robert Maraggio) of Millis with whom he resided and niece Wanda Cabana (Wade) of Bellingham whom Carl and Winnie brought into their home as a young teen. Three sisters; Elizabeth Earl of Medway, Sally Signoriello of Foxborough and Nancy Gould of Millis. He was also brother to the late Herbert Bennett and Ralph (Sparky ) Bennett. One grandchild; Chris Roberts ( Heather) of Croydon, New Hampshire. Two great-grandchildren, Zachary and Morgan Roberts of Croydon, New Hampshire and many nieces and nephews. Three great nieces, Tanya Slobogan of Milford, Vanessa & Kara Cabana of Bellingham.
Carl was a member of the American Legion Post 208 Millis, Amvets Post 495 Millis, VFW Post 1526 Medway, Boggastowe Fish and Game Club of Millis and Teamster Union Local 25.
Carl enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping, gardening, going to agricultural fairs, tinkering with his trucks and farm tractors and spending time with his family.
His funeral service will be held at the Roberts-Mitchell Funeral Home, 90 Curve Street, Millis on Tuesday Dec 22 at 1:00pm. Burial with military honors will follow at Prospect Hill Cemetery.
There will be no visiting hours.

Swain, Edith L., age 85, of Medfield and Tampa, FL, died Friday evening, December 18th, 2009 at home in Medfield surrounded by her loving family.
Born in Ridgewood, New Jersey, she was the daughter of the late Theodore and Elizabeth (Roller) Luse.
Mrs. Swain was educated at the Williston Park Public Schools on Long Island, and Hofstra University in Hempstead, Long Island, New York.
A Former long time resident of Hingham, she was a member of the Quincy Neighborhood Club, Hingham Yacht Club and the Cohasset Golf Club. A devoted mother and grandmother, she enjoyed golf, skiing, sailing and bridge.
Wife of the late Earl M. Swain, she is survived by three sons, Robert E. Swain and his wife Linda of Tampa, FL, Jeffrey A. Swain and his wife Mary Ellen of No. Weymouth, and Craig R. Swain and his wife Elizabeth of Medfield; a brother, Robert Luse and his wife Betty of Mt. Jackson, VA; a sister June Hubbard of Cohasset; five grandchildren; and two great grandchildren.

Gay, AnneLouise (Congdon), age 76, died peacefully on Sunday morning, December 13, 2009, at her Medway home.
Born in Millis on May 31, 1933, she was a daughter of the late Thomas A. and Ophelia (Steadman) Congdon. She was a 1951 graduate of Millis High School and was married to Clarence O. “Buddy” Gay, Jr. in 1953. The couple settled in Medway where they made a loving home for their growing family.
AnneLouise retired in 1998 after being employed for many years as a bookkeeper with the Medway Cooperative Bank. She was a devoted member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Quinobequin Chapter, for 56 years and a former member of the Rainbow Girls, West Medway Assembly #63. A great cook who enjoyed hooking rugs, AnneLouise is most remembered as the warm and giving heart of her family.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by seven children, Thomas A. Gay (Kathleen) of Medway, Timothy A. Gay (Vicki) of Norfolk, Cheryl A. Gay of Medway, Candace G. White (Ted) of Barrington, NH, Ted A. Gay (Cheryl) of Medway, Cara A. Lazarra (Matthew) of Deerfield, WI, and Christy A. Tisdale (Edward) of Wakefield; fourteen grandchildren, Adam, Andy, Leanne, Stacey, Sara, Carly, Everett, Courtney, Emma, Abigail, Noah, Clara, Jane, and Simon; two great-grandsons, Ethan and Ayden; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her daughter, Cindy A. Teed, in 1988.

Crump, Joseph, age 53, of Medway, died on Friday evening, December 11, 2009, at U. Mass Medical Center in Worcester of injuries sustained in an accident.
Born in Norwood on June 2, 1956, he was a son of Dorothy C. (Howard) Crump of Medfield and the late Herbert P. Crump. He was raised and educated in Medfield and was a graduate of the Keefe Technical School in Framingham.
Joe had been employed as a salesman with the Cleaves Company in Needham for several years and had previously worked in quality control for Charles River Data and Data General in Framingham. He also was the current director of functions for the Amvets Post 495 in Millis.
A longtime dedicated member of the Sons of Amvets at Post 495, he was past post commander as well as a past state commander of the Sons of Amvets. He was an enthusiastic NASCAR fan and a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife, Betty (DeRoche) Crump; a son, Edmund P. Crump of Danielson, CT; a daughter, Marion E. Crump and companion Brad Gorrie of Upton; a stepdaughter, Jayne E. Lavoie of Medway; four sisters, Kathleen Marks of Sutton, Elaine M. Perkins (Clayton) of Medway, Karen A. Rochat (Geoffrey) of Mendon, and Bernadette Suzedell (Eugene) of Cohasset; a brother Richard H. Crump of Boston; nine grandchildren; one great-grandson; and many nieces and nephews. He was also the stepfather of the late Joseph A. Lavoie.

Joyce, Herbert W. Sr., age 91, a longtime Millis resident, died on Friday morning, December 11, 2009, at MetroWest Medical Center.
Born in Cambridge on March 19, 1918, he was one of twelve children born to the late Lester W. and Marian (King) Joyce. He was raised and educated in Cambridge and served honorably with the US Army during World War II.
Herb married Jean M. Lipsett on January 28, 1949 and the couple settled in Millis to raise their family. After being self employed as a truck driver for several years, he was employed as a driver for Lloyd King and James Calella of Millis. He was driving with Crystal Industries in Bellingham at the time of his retirement. In his later years he enjoyed long walks, stopping to socialize with friends along the way.
Beloved husband of the late Jean M. (Lipsett) Joyce and father of the late John E. Joyce, Bruce K. Joyce, and Janice J. Brown, he is survived by three daughters, Donna M. Blangeard of Medway, Beth A. Joyce of Millis and Jean M. Joyce of Norfolk; Herbert W. Joyce, Jr. of Milford and Robert L. Joyce and Kenneth W. Joyce of Millis; four brothers; three sisters; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Travers, Robert Mackin, age 87, a veteran of World War II, Korea and Vietnam, died peacefully on Monday evening, December 7, 2009, at his Medway home.
Born in Framingham on March 12, 1922, he was a son of the late Edna May (Coombs) and Frank L. Travers, Jr. Bob was raised and educated in Medfield and attended Burdett College for two years prior to enlisting in the Navy to serve during World War II.
Bob decided to make his career with the Navy and continued to serve until 1967. He retired as a Chief of Naval Personnel. Returning to Medfield, Bob was employed for several as a deliveryman for Winn Soap Company and enjoyed membership with the Beckwith Post #110, American Legion and the Franklin VFW Post #3402. He had lived in Medway for the past eight years.
Predeceased by his wife, Lola Marie (Dalo) Travers, he is survived by a daughter, Karla R. Arceneaux and her husband Ron of Val Rico, FL; a son, Matthew G. Travers of Matlacha, FL; a step-son, John V. Grover of Norwood; a grandson, Matthew Masi; three sisters, Jennie Brink of Endicott, NY, Anna Mallory of Franklin, and Edna L. MacDonald of Medway; and many nieces and nephews. He was also the brother of the late Frank L. Travers, III.
A memorial service will be held at Christ Episcopal Church 14 School St., Medway, on Saturday, Jan. 9, 2010 at 11:00a.m.

DeVenanzi, George, age 83, a lifelong resident of Medfield, died peacefully at his home on Sunday evening, December 6, 2009.
Born in Medfield on January 9, 1926, he was a son of the late Romolo and Angelina (Magnaro) DeVenanzi. He attended the Medfield Schools and at the age of 14 started working part time for the town.
George officially started his career with the Medfield Highway Department in 1947 at the age of 21. He continued to work for the DPW until his retirement at the age of 82 in December 2008. George was also an active member of the Medfield Fire Department for 44 years and attained the rank of Lieutenant in 1989. In honor of a lifetime of devotion to the town, the Medfield Board of Selectman declared December 17, 2008, as George DeVenanzi Day.
Loving companion of the late Evelyn (Dunham) Kingsbury, he is survived by her children Debra Brown and husband Ray of Bellingham, William Kingsbury and wife Jean of Medfield, and Robin Bibo of Milford; their children Paul Bibo, Nicholas and Gregory Brown, and Neil and Erin Kingsbury; and many relatives and friends. He was also predeceased by his brother, John A. Finase, and sisters Margaret Alberto, Florence Finase, and Mary Russo.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Saint Edward the Confessor Church, 133 Spring Street, Medfield, on Friday, Dec. 11th at 10:00a.m. Burial will follow at Vine Lake Cemetery.

Lydon, Agnes E. (Downing), age 88, a lifelong Millis resident, died on Tuesday evening, November 24, 2009, at Medway Country Manor.
Born in Dorchester on July 5, 1921, she was a daughter of the late Richard F. and Mary (Cassidy) Downing. She was a graduate of the Millis Schools and had been employed for many years as a secretary at the William Carter Clothing Company in Needham.
Mrs. Lydon was a devoted member of Saint Thomas the Apostle Parish in Millis.
Predeceased by her siblings Mary Welch, Richard Downing, Eileen McCarthy, Rita Gately, John Downing, Ann Holmquist, and Alma Mulkern, she is survived by many nieces and nephews and their families.
Her funeral will be from the Roberts-Mitchell Funeral Home, 90 Curve Street, Millis, on Monday, Nov. 30th at 9:00a.m. with a Mass of Christian Burial at Saint Thomas the Apostle Church, 82 Exchange Street, Millis, at 10:00a.m. Burial will follow at Saint Mary’s Cemetery, Holliston.

Masters, Henry Loring, age 25, died in the early hours of Saturday, November 21, 2009, at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, New Hampshire, of a recurrence of an autoimmune disorder he experienced in 2002, triggered this time by H1N1 influenza.
Many have asked about donations in Henry’s memory. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations support The Food Project or a family foundation currently under development. Information on both will be posted at www.rememberinghenry.com by Thursday.
Born May 27, 1984, in Boston, Henry grew up and attended school in Medfield before enrolling at Milton Academy, where his dorm head described him as “the heart and soul of Goodwin House.” Milton was a time of important friendships, intellectual growth, and—a particular highlight—being part of the sailing team that won a national title.
In the spring of his senior year, Henry spent 17 days—one for each of his 17 years—in the hospital for treatment for idiopathic autoimmune hemolytic anemia. When he needed to understand the complex physiological processes in play, he sent his mother and aunt on a mission to the Harvard Coop to buy a medical school text on blood. He read it cover to cover, and became a full partner with a team of doctors from Children’s Hospital Boston and Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, who worked tirelessly to help him beat the odds. Henry was discharged on his eighteenth birthday, received his Milton diploma in person with his classmates, and even attended a graduation party or two before a summer of setbacks, another hospital admission, and a long healing process.
Henry recovered. He took an unplanned “gap year,” healing himself as well as a menagerie of pets, and sometimes their owners, through his work at a veterinary hospital that inspired him to enroll at Franklin & Marshall College as a pre-vet, eventually changing his major to Scientific and Philosophical Studies of Mind, an interdisciplinary mix of hard and soft sciences and the humanities.
While at college, Henry met the two loves of his life: first Hillary Chazen, and later, a magnificent black lab named Mason, whom they rescued together. The three were inseparable.
Acting on his interest in patient rights, Henry also interned in a public defender’s office, building the primary arguments for two successful cases that gained benefits for patients unable to advocate effectively for themselves.
The thread that runs through Henry’s life—his leadership, purpose, mentoring, and capacity to effect change—is perhaps best expressed through his ten-year relationship with The Food Project, an organization fostering personal and social change through sustainable agriculture. Henry started there at age 14 as a crew member, rising through the ranks of summer positions to crew leader, Roxbury farm manager, and later, between college and graduate school, a year full-time as youth coordinator, building programming and curricula that ensured a level playing field for young participants from all backgrounds in the Boston metropolitan area. The Food Project embodied Henry’s hopes and dreams for society, not to mention his enjoyment of good food—grown well, harvested and cooked lovingly, and distributed to those for whom a healthy diet was economically challenging. It was a practical way to accomplish change and see growth of both food and youth.
Henry was a natural teacher with an unusual capacity to synthesize and interpret information in the way best suited to whomever he was with. His honorary sister, Elizabeth Beedy, speaking of the inexplicable nature of losing Henry, said “I wish he were here to explain it all to us.” Henry was the guy who always did that. And who had a laugh, and a hug, like no other.
All of Henry’s interests, passions, and considerable brainpower converged in July of this year when he enrolled in the Master of Public Health program at The Dartmouth Institute for Health Policy and Clinical Practice. He was on a mission, in the right setting with professional peers from various disciplines, to change U.S. health-care and mental health policy.
Each of the people and institutions in Henry’s life felt his impact. The morning after he died, Henry’s sister found Rudyard Kipling’s “If,” on his computer desktop. The poem embodies all that Henry was.
Henry is survived by his parents, Jeffrey and Lucy Bird Masters; sister Anne Tyler Masters and her spouse Greta Karen Masters of Brooklyn, New York; brother Charles Bradford Masters, of Medfield, Massachusetts, and Burlington, Vermont; maternal grandmother Anne Litchard Bird of Orchard Park, New York; paternal grandparents John and Virginia Masters of Burlington, Vermont; and by the love of his life, Hillary Chazen, daughter of Barbara Gross and Edward Chazen of Wellesley Hills, Massachusetts.
Henry also leaves a large number of adoring cousins, aunts, uncles, friends, colleagues, classmates, and youth he befriended and mentored—too numerous to mention but so important to understanding his reach and the faith so many had that he would improve the world in a way only Henry could—with purpose, focus, humor, and time for flag football and the Red Sox.
The family is in the process of establishing a vehicle to fund and facilitate better understanding of, and more effective treatment for, idiopathic autoimmune hemolytic anemia in young people and children. When further information is available, the family welcomes participation at every level, from donations to scientific advising.

Angenete, Joshua Ryan, age 24, died suddenly on Tuesday morning, November 10, 2009, at his Millis home.
Born on October 18, 1985, in Oakland, CA, he was a son of the late Suzanne Yvonne Angenete. He moved to Lunenburg at age ten and attended the Imago School in Littleton. He started his secondary education at San Leandro High School in California and transferred as a junior to the electrical program at Tri County Regional Vocational Technical High School. He graduated in 2005.
Joshua had served an electrical apprenticeship in Millis and Medway and had recently earned his EMT license. A body builder and wrestler, he spent the last year employed as a physical fitness trainer at both Gold’s Gym in Millis and Fitness Together in Westwood. Joshua was a wrestling coach at Xaverian High School in Westwood. He enjoyed competing in area bodybuilding competitions. He also liked rock climbing, caring for and riding his motorcycle, and studying martial arts.
He is survived by two sisters, Meagan and Rose Angenete of Millis; two brothers, Caleb and Phillip Camacho of San Leandro, CA; two aunts, Karin Konstantinopoulos and her husband Costa of Millis, with whom he resided; Jackie Henrickson and her husband William of Lunenburg; and many dear cousins and friends.

Szablinski, Eloise Frances (Desley), age 78, a lifelong Millis resident, died early Tuesday morning, November 10, 2009, at St. Patrick’s Manor in Framingham.
Born in Framingham on February 10, 1931, she was the daughter of the late Maurice and Alice (Tighe) Desley. She was a 1949 graduate of Millis High School.
Eloise married and remained in Millis, creating a loving home environment for her family. She worked with her husband at their business, A & N Mobil of Medway, keeping books and doing odd jobs for many years. A woman of great strength and faith, Eloise cared for her parents and husband through their many trials and illnesses without complaint.
A devoted and active parishioner of Saint Thomas the Apostle Church, she was also fond of cooking and preferred entertaining at home to going out. Eloise enjoyed reading and was a frequent patron of the Millis Public Library. The core of her family, she also had room in her heart for her many pets over the years.
Predeceased by her husband, Victor Szablinski, she is survived by two daughters, Alice M. Linnell and husband Robert of East Falmouth and Nancy M. Lauze and husband Gary of Hopkinton; two cousins, Mary Tighe and James Tighe, both of Holliston; four grandchildren, Vicki, Michelle, Kevin, and Jessie; and four great-grandchildren, Ashley, Kassie, Axel, and Addison.

Morrill, Christopher Ellis, age 57, a long time Millis resident, died on Thursday afternoon, November 5, 2009, at home with family by his side.
Born, raised, and educated in Framingham, he was a son of the late Thomas H. and Ellen J. (Powers) Morrill. He worked as a teen at the Zayre’s warehouse in Natick. His involvement with computer operations at the warehouse grew into an interest which he pursued in programming. Chris stayed with the company through its transition to TJX and was currently employed as a Senior Programming Analyst.
Chris was a fly fishing enthusiast and could often be found along the Swift River in western Massachusetts. Two years ago he realized a long time dream by traveling to Montana to enjoy the sport. Another favorite pastime was caring for his sports car and Chris was an avid fan of the New England Patriots.
He is survived by two brothers, Thomas H. Morrill, Jr. and his wife Anne of Framingham and Peter E. Morrill and his wife Priscilla of New Lebanon, NY; a sister, Suellen Coito and her husband A. Michael of Sarasota, FL; his nieces and nephews, Suellen, Lisa, Michael, Benjamin, and Anne; their children, Matthew, Ashley, Anthony, and Aidan; and his former wife and dear friend, Leslie Lambert.

Woodward, Lois A. (Deacon), age 65, died on Thursday morning, October 22, 2009, at Caritas Norwood Hospital after a brief illness.
Born in Brighton, England on November 23, 1943, she was a daughter of the late Frederic and Edith (Stuber) Deacon. Her family moved frequently when she was young, but she always considered Devon her childhood home.
Lois immigrated to this area as a young woman and was happily employed for many years as an au pair in Medfield and Sherborn. Lois had also worked as a Certified Nurse’s Aide in Natick prior to her employment as a lab technician with the Charles River Pollution Control District. She remained with the district for 22 years and considered many of her coworkers as a second family.
A talented sketch artist, Lois also found outlets for her creativity in various crafts. She enjoyed gardening and caring for her home, travel and kayaking and was a keen Red Sox fan.
She is survived by three sons, Donal Sean Woodward and his wife Karen of Carthage, NC, and Iain M. Woodward and Gllynn Deacon Woodward both of Norfolk; her companion, Robert Marshall of Sherborn; eight brothers and sisters, Patrick Deacon of Dartmouth, UK, Rosamond Bruce of Liverpool, UK, Kathleen Hoare of Auckland, NZ, Simon Deacon of Cambridge, UK, Jeannie Warnell of Eastern Passage, NS, Rachel Witt of Wales, Paul Deacon of Auckland, NZ, and Jill Bolt of Cork, IR. She also leaves two much loved granddaughters, Mandy Ramey and Jennifer Wood and their daughters Amber and Emily.

Kubacki, John, age 69, a lifelong resident of Millis, died early Wednesday morning, October 21, 2009, at Milford Regional Medical Center.
Born at home in Rockville on March 22, 1940, he was a son of the late Alexander and Anne (Walsh) Kubacki. He was a graduate of the Millis Schools and was employed with the Millis DPW prior to entering the Navy during the Vietnam War. He served with the Seabees from 1961 until 1965.
John served with the Millis Police Department for several years prior to working as a heavy equipment operator with S.M. LoRusso and Sons for over thirty years. He was a volunteer firefighter with the Millis Fire Department for thirty-plus years and had served for eighteen years as Millis Town Constable. John was a life member of the Millis American Legion Post 208, the Millis Amvets Post 495, and the Boggastow Fish and Game Club. He most enjoyed working with the fire department, fishing, and following the New England Patriots, a team he followed from its inception.
He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Helen (Johnson) Kubacki; a daughter, Kimberly Jean McManus and her husband Edward of Londonderry, NH; two sons, Keith N. Kubacki and his wife Jean Callahan of Millis and John “Kubby” Kubacki, Jr. and his partner Peggy Santos of Millis; four grandchildren, Anjelica, Janisha, Sean, and Kody Kubacki; two sisters, Margaret Ozella and her husband Vincent of Milford and Patricia Johnson of Hopedale; his mother-in-law, Helen Burpee of Millis, and many nieces and nephews. He was also the brother of the late Alex Kubacki and Helen Fuzy.
His funeral service will be held at the Church of Christ, 142 Exchange Street, Millis, on Monday, Oct. 26th at 2:00p.m. Burial with military honors will follow at Prospect Hill Cemetery.

Pederzini, Elaine (Benedict), age 103, a longtime resident of Medfield, died on Wednesday, October 21, 2009, at Caritas Norwood Hospital.
Born in Auburn, Maine, on August 18, 1906, she was a daughter of the late Ralph C. and Mae (Holmes) Benedict. Elaine was raised primarily in Needham and was a 1924 graduate of Needham High School. She continued her education at Wheaton College where she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1928.
Elaine settled in Medfield in 1929 and embarked on a long career in teaching. Upon her marriage in 1934, she gave up teaching in compliance with the norms of that time. When the marriage restriction was eased during World War II, she returned to the classroom. Elaine taught English, Latin and French at Medfield High School until her retirement in 1971. She had also served as Head of the English Department during the 1960s.
A lifelong music lover, Elaine had been a member of the Medfield Community Orchestra, had organized the Medfield High School Girls’ Glee Club and had served as organist at the Church of the Advent in Medfield. She was a member of the Hannah Adams Women’s Club and held most of their offices during her tenure with them. She had also been a member of the Norfolk County and Mass Retired Teachers Associations.
Beloved wife of the late Gildo J. Pederzini and sister of the late Katherine B. Phillips and Marjorie B. Meaney, she is survived by a niece, Charlotte A. MacPhetres of Scituate; a nephew, Robert E. Meaney and his wife Donna of Medfield; and many loving grand and great-grand nieces and nephews.
Her funeral will be at the Church of the Advent, 28 Pleasant Street, Medfield, on Monday, Oct. 26th at 10:00a.m. Burial will be private.

Manning, Timothy B., age 81, of Millis where he has been a resident since 1964, died Sunday morning, October 18th, 2009 at the Milford Care and Rehabilitation Center in Milford, MA.
Born in Boston, he was the son of the late Timothy D. and Mary Gillespie) Manning and was raised in Boston and educated at the Boston Latin Boys School.
Formerly of Boston, Mr. Manning was a retired Marketing Representative from CIGNA, Insurance, where he had been employed for 45 years.
A devoted husband and father, his sense of humor was evident right up to his last days. He enjoyed sports, especially the Patriots and Red Sox. He also enjoyed working in his yard, it has been said he had the greenest lawns in Millis.
Predeceased by his beloved wife, Jean A. (Callahan) Manning, he is survived by a daughter Judith A. Manning of Bellingham, a son Michael C. Day of Millis, and 2 sisters Helen F. Manning of Dover and Norma L. Connolly of Westwood. He was also predeceased by 3 brothers, Edward, John and Kenneth Manning and 2 sisters Rita and Doris Manning.

Moore, Theresa M. (Stevens), age 50, died peacefully at her Medway home on Wednesday evening, October 14, 2009.
Born in Boston on June 17, 1959, she was the daughter of Mary Lou (Howard) Ryan of Medfield and the late William Stevens. She was raised in Dorchester and Hyde Park, and was a 1977 graduate of Cardinal Cushing High School in South Boston. She continued her education at Framingham State College where she earned a BA in English and later, the Goldman School of Dental Medicine receiving her Radiology Certification for Dental Assistant, and she was currently near completion of her nursing degree at Mass Bay Community College in Wellesley.
Formerly of Millis and Medfield, Terri had most recently been employed by Harvard Vanguard Medical Associates in Wellesley as a Medical Assistant. Previous to which, she was a dental assistant at the office of Dr. Frederick Insogna in Westwood for many years at the same time joining the Prudential Page Real Estate office in Medway. Prior to then she had been employed by Invensys in Framingham as a Benefits Specialist, and a Personnel Assistant at both Butler Automatic, Inc. in Canton and Northeast Apparel, Inc. in Braintree. A very talented lady, she enjoyed working with stained glass, sewing, embroidery, quilting, and cooking. Terri also loved music and among her favorite places to visit were Golden and Denver, CO, and Boston.
In addition to her mother, she is survived by her husband, Scott B. Moore; three brothers, William Stevens of Boston, John Ryan and his wife Roberta of Framingham, and Kevin Ryan and his wife Karen of Foxborough; her father-in-law, William Moore of Norton; and her Godmother, Alice Saegh of Walpole.
A celebration of her life will be at the Roberts-Mitchell Funeral Home, 15 Miller Street, Medfield, on Monday, October 19th at 12noon. Burial will be private.

Vincola, N. Margaret Nyren, age 98, died peacefully early on Tuesday morning, October 13, 2009, at her Millis home.
She was predeceased by two husbands, Eugene Vincola and Olaf Nyren. Her survivors include Paul Nyren of Medfield, Lois Westcott of CT, Eleanor Morrison of NH, James DeCost of SC, David Jeannette of Reading, Paul Jeannette of East Harwich, and their families.

Boie, Camille A. Rita, age 51, died suddenly on Sunday, September 29, 2009, at her Millis home.
Born in Fall River on June 5, 1958, she was a daughter of David Rita of Florida and the late Mona (DeStephano) Rita. She was raised in Whitman and was a graduate of Whitman High School. She settled in Millis and was employed as a waitress at various restaurants in Millis and Franklin for many years.

Breen, Patricia A., 54, of Millis passed away gracefully Sunday, October 11 embraced by loving family at the Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston.
Beloved wife of 30 years to Daniel Breen and loving, devoted mother of Nicholas E., Lucas D., and Molly K. Breen. Born in Milford, she was the daughter of Nello and Kathleen (O’Connor) Allegrezza.
Patty attended Milford public schools, graduating in 1973, and received her nursing degree from UMass, Amherst. For over 20 years, Patty worked as a pediatric nurse at Children’s Hospital Boston and, most recently, Newton-Wellesley Hospital.
Her warmth, boundless optimism and joie de vivre were an inspiration to all who knew and loved her. Patty was actively involved in the Millis community, volunteering countless hours to the schools and town. She enjoyed gardening, oil painting, the seashore and cooking for family and friends.
Patty is also survived by her brothers John Allegrezza of Westwood and Damian Allegrezza of Millis and sister, Christina Allegrezza of Boston.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday, October 15th at 10:00AM at St. Thomas the Apostle Church, 82 Exchange Street, Millis with burial following at Prospect Hill Cemetery, Millis.

Hallowell, Beverly L., 75, died peacefully on Sunday surrounded by her four daughters.
Born in Cambridge, she was the daughter of the late Edward and Bernice (Macpherson) Thornton.
Mrs. Hallowell was raised in Needham and graduated from Needham High School, class of 1951. After attending Lasell Jr. College in 1953, she then earned a bachelors degree from Burdett College in the class of 1955. Beverly moved to Medfield in 1961 with her family and was very active in the community. She was a member of the Medfield Garden club, the Hannah Adams club and co-chaired the 325th Anniversary celebration of Medfield. She also enjoyed volunteering at the Metro West Medical Center, Natick campus. Beverly's greatest joy was being a home maker and spending time with her family.
She was the wife of the late William L. Hallowell and is survived by her daughters, Holly H. McKillop and husband Tom of Nashua, NH, Laurel H. Sigler and husband Randy of Marblehead, Lindsay H. O’Driscoll and husband Sean of Medfield and Hope H. Rose and husband Bob of Rome, NY. Dearly loved by her ten grandchildren and her new grandson-in-law, Curtis Lewsey, she was also predeceased by brother, Robert P. Thornton.
Private services will be held at the convenience of the family.

Mott, Ann M. (Bravo), 89, of Medfield where she has been a life long resident, died unexpectedly at her home on Tuesday evening, October 6th, 2009.
Born July 26, 1920 in Cambridge, she was the daughter of the late Ernest and Rose (Silveri) Bravo. Ann was educated in the Medfield public schools graduating with the class of 1938.
For a short time during the war, Ann worked at Kendall Mills, but for most of her life she was a devoted mother and wife. Her passion was her family, and she also enjoyed traveling.
Wife of the late Harold S. Mott, she is survived by 2 children, Sheryl A. Knehr and husband George of Salt Springs, FL and James V. Mott of San Francisco, CA; a sister Josephine L. Marcus of Medfield; a granddaughter Loni Knehr and a great granddaughter Cortney Johnson. Also Ann was predeceased by her brother Vincent P. Bravo and grandson Michael Knehr.

Worthy, Timothy S. and Michelle M. (Hartnett), ages 38 and 35 respectively, died on Saturday evening, October 3, 2009, of injuries sustained in a car accident
Tim was born in Washington, DC, a son of the late Sylvia (Vieira) and Cole E. Worthy, Jr. Raised in Wareham, he was a 1989 graduate of Wareham High School and continued his education at Northeastern University. Michelle was raised in South Weymouth, the daughter of Patricia (Klehm) and the late William R. Hartnett, Jr. Following her graduation from Weymouth High School, she earned a bachelor’s degree in education from Boston University and completed her master’s at Bridgewater State College.
Tim enjoyed a successful career in financial services, and had been employed with ACI in Framingham. Following in her father’s footsteps as an educator, Michelle started her career in teaching with Boston and Weymouth Public Schools. She had been employed by the Town of Dover as a literacy specialist at Chickering Elementary School since 2003.
Tim and Michelle were married on November 9, 2003, and had made their home in Natick prior to settling in Medfield four years ago. They were devoted parents to their two young children. Tim enjoyed time as a flag football and soccer coach in Medfield. The Worthys will be remembered by their families and friends as a fun couple who loved life, each other, and those around them.
In addition to her mother, they are survived by their children, Timothy S. Worthy, Jr. and Lauren O. Worthy; his brother Cole E. (Susan T.) Worthy, III, of Medfield; her brother, William R. (Tiffanie A.) Hartnett, III, of So. Weymouth; her grandmother, Claire Klehm of Milton; his aunt and uncle, Gloria and Lawrence Plenty of Wareham; their nieces and nephews, Taylor and Bryce Worthy and Billy and Brianna Hartnett; and a large extended family.

Desmarais, Leo G., age 72, of South Yarmouth, died on Saturday, September 26, 2009, while visiting Cape Canaveral, Florida.
Born, raised, and educated in Pawtucket, Rhode Island, he was a son of the late Alphee and Blanche (Smith) Desmarais. He lived most of his adult life in Millis.
Leo had been employed throughout his career as a sales rep with Liberty Mutual Insurance Company of Boston. He had moved to South Yarmouth 15 years ago and maintained an office in Centerville until his retirement in 2004. Leo was a talented artist who spent much time painting, woodworking, or drawing. He also enjoyed playing the guitar and country line dancing.
He is survived by two daughters, Donna Desmarais of Milford and Lyndsay Desmarais of Naples, FL; three sons, Daniel Desmarais (Robin Cron) and Craig Desmarais (Terri) of Bellingham, and David Desmarais of Naples, FL; a brother, Arthur Desmarais (Susan Lynd) of RI; a sister, Loretta Desmarais of MA; and four grandchildren, Ryan and Sarah Wormmood of Milford, and Hillary and Steven Desmarais of Bellingham. He was also a brother of the late Theresa Annaco and Gilbert Desmarais.

Connelly, Paul M., age 53, a longtime resident of Medfield, died peacefully on Monday morning, September 14, 2009, surrounded by family at his home.
Born in Boston on January 6, 1956, he was a son of John T. and Ella R. (Harrington) Connelly currently of Dover. He was raised in Roslindale, attended Sacred Heart School and was a 1974 graduate of Boston Latin School. He earned a bachelor’s degree in Marketing and Communications at Babson College. He married in 1980 and settled in Medfield five years later.
Paul joined his brother at Longwood Security of Brookline in 1995, and had served as Executive Vice President since that time. He had previously enjoyed a successful career in sales with Michelin Tire, Sherwood Medical, and Wang Laboratories. An enthusiastic skier, Paul liked to spend time with family, particularly at his vacation home in Maine. He was also a football fan.
He is additionally survived by his wife, Patricia M. (Walsh) Connelly; four daughters, Kerri A., Shannon M., Jillian P., and Erin M. Connelly of Medfield; one sister, Anne P. Lynch (Brian) of West Roxbury; five brothers, John T. Connelly, Jr. (Janet) of Medfield, Edward F. Connelly (Anna) of Needham, James R. Connelly (Maureen) of Norfolk, William L. Connelly (Carole) of Marshfield, and Joseph P. Connelly of Florida; his mother-in-law, Barbara B. (Johnson) Walsh of Roslindale; three brothers-in-law, John W. Walsh (Nancy) of Dedham, Christopher J. Walsh (Alicia) of Melrose, and Brian P. Walsh (Jennifer) of Walpole; two sisters-in-law, Carol A. Kerin (John) of Quincy and Kathleen M. Welter (Brian) of Walpole; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his father-in-law, John J. Walsh.

Keris, Florence J. (Hersey), 83, of Suffolk, VA, formerly of Medfield, died Sept. 10, 2009 at the Portsmouth VA hospital. A native of Eastport, Maine, she was a retired hairdresser in Medfield.
Mrs. Keris was a member and trustee of First Baptist Church in Medfield and was on the flower committee and board of Christian Education. She was a member of the Medfield Garden Club, Medfield Hannah Adams Club, Medfield Food Pantry and Medfield Bridge Club.
Survivors include her husband, Joseph J. Keris; two daughters, Brenda J. Rieth and Bonnie J. Vinson and husband Mark of Suffolk, VA; one son, Michael J. Keris of Denton, TX; one brother, George A. Hersey of Bellingham; three grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, Sept. 14, at 11 AM at the First Baptist Church, 436 Main St., Medfield, with the Rev. Jonathan Chechile, pastor, officiating. Burial will follow at Vine Lake Cemetery, Medfield.

Saleda, Theresa E. (Regan), age 82, a former Millis resident, died on Sunday evening, September 6, 2009, at her Ashland home.
Born in Charlestown of January 2, 1927, she was a daughter of the late Gertrude (Witham) Regan Riley and James J. Regan. Her early life was spent in Lynn and her family moved to Medfield when she was a teen. She graduated from Medfield High School and was employed for several years as a health aide at the Medfield State Hospital.
Theresa married in 1947 and made her home in Medfield and Roxbury prior to settling in Millis twelve years later. She devoted herself to the care of her young family while her husband was away serving with the U.S. Navy and is most remembered as a doting mother and grandmother. Theresa particularly enjoyed cooking, entertaining friends and family, and hosting holiday events.
Predeceased by her sons Thomas and Ronald and her grandson John, she is survived by her husband, Francis J. “Sal” Saleda; her daughter, Debra (Chuck) Carlson of Ashland; three sons, Robert F. Saleda of Georgia, James J. (Tonya) Saleda of CA, and John A. (Marianne) Saleda of Dedham; her brother, Donald P. (Kathy) Regan of Walpole; eleven grandchildren, Andrea, Mary, Theresa, Michael, Andrew, Elizabeth, Bryan, James, Emily, Michael, and Kate; and eight great-grandchildren.

Somers, Robert Herman Jr., age 48, died at his Millis home on Sunday evening, August 30, 2009, after a long illness.
Born in Natick on June 18, 1961, he was a son of Valerie A. (McLean) Somers of Millis and the late Robert H. Somers. He moved with his family to Millis as a young boy and was a 1980 graduate of Tri-County Regional Vocational Technical High School in Franklin.
Robert had been employed with Herman Shoe Company and Ann and Hope prior to working with BJs Wholesale Club as a forklift operator for the past ten years. An enthusiastic Boston Bruins fan, he also followed Boston College Football and the Washington Redskins. He enjoyed movies and listening to music.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by two brothers, Mark R. (Christine) Somers of Wrentham and Michael R. (Linda) Somers of Woonsocket, RI; three sisters, Maureen A. (Walter) Martins of Bellingham, Barbara A. (Dana) Grinnell of Hopedale, and Diane M. (Gary) Baker of Bellingham; twelve nieces and nephews and five grandnieces and nephews.

Allard, Jeannette (Chamberlain) Lovelace-, age 85, a former resident of Medfield and Millis, died peacefully on Friday, August 28, 2009, at the Doolittle Home in Foxboro.
Born in Norwood on April 2, 1924, she was the daughter of the late Eli L. and Myra (Haynes) Chamberlain. She was a 1942 graduate of Norwood High School Class and earned a bachelor’s degree from Mt. Holyoke College in 1946. She married Warren H. Lovelace and they made their home in Springfield prior to settling in Medfield from 1957 until Warren’s death in 1972.
Jeannette enjoyed choir membership, participating in mission projects, and teaching Sunday School at the United Church of Christ in Medfield. She worked part time as an occupational therapist with the Westwood Lodge for several years and also continued her education with courses at the Andover-Newton Theological School. In 1975, Jeannette married Ernest H. Allard and moved to Millis. They wintered in Tampa, Florida, after retirement and spent time traveling. Jeannette was also a tennis player, particularly later in life.
Predeceased by Ernest in 1990, she is survived by two daughters, Ruth H. (Robert) Zielke of Hanford, CA, and Jeanne S. Reed of Florence; two sons, Richard L. (Susan) Lovelace of So. Hadley and Robert H. (Arleen) Lovelace of Brighton Plantation, ME; two stepchildren, Anne M. (Paul) Bacchiocchi of Millis and Richard A. (Wendy) Allard of Pass Christian, MS; ten grandchildren, Gwendolyn, Michael, Leslie, Jeffrey, Roxanne, Sarah, Lee Ellen, Annette, Stephen, and Thomas; and two great-grandsons, Howard and Joshua. She was also the stepmother of the late Stephen E. Allard and sister of the late Robert H. Chamberlain.
Her funeral service will be held at the United Church of Christ, 496 Main Street (Rte. 109), Medfield, on Thursday, Sept. 3rd at 1:00p.m. Burial will follow at Vine Lake Cemetery.

Corrigan, Thelma Doris (Hinz), age 96, a longtime Medfield resident, died on Monday morning, August 24, 2009, at the Maples Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Wrentham.
Born in Baltimore, Maryland, on October 26, 1912, she was the daughter of the late William Joseph and Sadie Ellen (Kelly) Hinz. Thelma was a 1930 graduate of Eastern High School in Baltimore and had been employed as a secretary. In the course of her career she had worked with Hauss Taylor & Company, Credit Adjustment Corp., and the A.H. Bull Steamship Company.
Thelma settled in Medfield in 1980 and became a member of the Medfield Senior Citizens. She was also an avid reader, enjoyed crossword puzzles, and most loved spending time with her family.
Predeceased by her husband James J. Corrigan and daughters Nancy and Mary Corrigan, she is survived by a daughter, Carolyn (Mrs. Albert) Kern of Norfolk; a granddaughter, Rachel (Mrs. Jeffrey) Donoian of Southlake, TX; a grandson, Justin Kern of Henderson, NV; three great-grandchildren, Joseph, Isabella, and Francesca Donoian of Southlake, TX; and several nieces and nephews. She was also the sister of the late Joseph Hinz.
Her funeral will be held at St. Luke’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, 950 East Street, Dedham, on Saturday, Aug. 29th at 2:00p.m. Burial will be at New Cathedral Cemetery, Baltimore, MD.

Pope, Susan E. (Feigenbaum), of Medfield, 56, passed away peacefully at home on August 23, 2009, having continued to lead a full life after a challenging cancer diagnosis three years ago. Susan was the wife of William F. Pope, and mother of Stephen, Nicholas, and Eleanor Pope.
The daughter of the late Harry and Dorothy Feigenbaum, Susan grew up in Philadelphia, arriving in Medfield in 1978 to begin a 30-year career as a children’s librarian at the Memorial, Wheelock, and Dale Street schools. Her love of literature and passion for teaching inspired generations of students to become lifelong readers.
Named Norfolk County Teacher of the Year in 1996, Susan began the Wheelock Reads program, bringing outstanding children’s authors and illustrators to school. She was also a committed volunteer with Girl Scouts and the Medfield Music Association.
Susan earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of Vermont and a master’s degree in library science from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
The family is greatly indebted to all at the Dana-Farber/Brigham and Women's Cancer Center at Faulkner Hospital for the skill, dedication, and love they provided during this difficult ordeal, and to her support group of fellow cancer patients.
At Susan’s request, a memorial service for her closest family, friends, and colleagues will be held on Saturday, August 29, at 11 a.m. at First Parish Unitarian Universalist, Medfield.

Miner, Marion (Toddings), age 89, a long time resident of Medfield, died on Saturday evening, August 22, 2009, surrounded by family at MetroWest Medical Center in Natick.
Born in Monroe, New York, on January 3, 1920, she was a daughter of the late Charles T.S. and Florence L. (Moseley) Toddings. She primarily raised and educated in Monroe and was a graduate of Girl’s Commercial High School in Brooklyn. Marion met John H. Miner, an acquaintance of her brother’s, prior to his serving in World War II and they later married.
The Miners had lived on Staten Island prior to settling in Medfield in 1958. Marion enjoyed providing a warm and loving home for her husband and sons. She had also enjoyed being a teachers’ aide at the Winter School in Medfield for over fifteen years.
Predeceased by her husband, she is survived by two sons, John R. Miner and his wife Linda of Kennesaw, GA, and Gary T. Miner and his wife Joan of Medfield; her sister, Florence Smith of Brooklyn, NY; eight grandchildren, Kim Balose, John T. Miner, Kathy Slaten, Gregory T. Miner, Jeffrey R. Miner, Stephanie J. Miner, Valerie A. Miner, and John H. Miner; and five great-grandchildren, Samuel, Sarah-Grace, Ruth-Ann, Ellie, and Ansley. She was also a sister of the late Charles E. Toddings and Grace Asbrock.

Murphy, Francis X. , a lifelong Millis resident, died peacefully on Thursday morning, August 20, 2009, at the home of his daughter in Port Charlotte, Florida.
Born in Millis on March 9, 1924, he was a son of the late Dennis J. and Annie B. (McDonald) Murphy. Following his 1943 graduation from Millis High School, Sliver joined the Army Air Corps and served as an aerial gunner in the European Theatre. His Air Medal was decorated with oak leaf clusters four times in 1944 and he received an EAME Theatre Service Medal with two bronze stars.
Sliver was employed throughout his career as a custodian with the Millis Public Schools. He retired as Head Custodian in 1986. He had been a member of St. Thomas the Apostle Church, past commander of the Millis American Legion Post 208 and a member of the Medway VFW.
Predeceased by his wives Catherine (Kilmain) Murphy in 1989 and Anna E. (Costello) Murphy in 2006 and eight siblings: Daniel L. Murphy, Katherine O’Rourke, Mary Germano, Michael Murphy, John Murphy, Thomas Murphy, Patricia O’Brien, and Sister Martha Murphy, he is survived by a daughter, Katherine A. DeLorenze and her husband John of Port Charlotte, FL; two sons, Dennis J. Murphy and his wife Theresa of Plainville and Patrick M. Murphy and his wife Kathleen of Wareham; two sisters, Rita Murphy of Millis and Florence Garrity of Yarmouth; a brother, James W. Murphy of Millis; six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Mailing, Donald P., age 62, a 21 year resident of Medway, died on Tuesday afternoon, August 11, 2009, at MetroWest Medical Center in Framingham.
Born in Milford on July 20, 1947, he was a son of the late Donald B. Mailing and Ruth I. Erler. Donald was a member of the Medfield High School class of 1965. He then served as a specialist with the U. S. Army.
Donald worked in construction for 35 years with S.E. Luttazi and Sons of Dover and for the past 6 years has been employed by the Town of Medway as a heavy equipment operator. A past commander of the American Legion Beckwith Post 110 in Medfield, he was also an enthusiastic Red Sox fan. He was particularly known to enjoy a good John Wayne war movie.
He is survived by his wife, Deirdre M. (Owen) Mailing; three sons, Donald K. Mailing and wife Stephanie Wachewski of North Brookfield, Robert P. Mailing and wife Deborah of Milford, and David J. Mailing of Medway; three grandchildren, Joseph Avery, Brady Philip, and Mackenzie E. Mailing; his sister, Donna Lee Machon of North Carolina; his twin, Ronald E. Mailing of Florida and brother Paul R. Mailing of North Carolina.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be concelebrated at St. Joseph’s Church, 151 Village Street, Medway, Monday, Aug. 17th at 10:00a.m. Military honors will follow.

Payson, Stephen Marshall, age 61, of Pikeville, KY unexpectedly died last year on August 24, 2008 in Pikeville, KY. He was born in Framingham, MA on February 1, 1947, the son of the late George Marshall and Mary R. Snyder Payson.
Mr. Payson graduated from Millis (MA) High school in 1965, from McPherson (KS) College with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology and from the University of Missouri, Kansas City with a Master of Science degree in Pharmaceutical Science.
Considered as one of the “founding fathers” of the Pikeville (KY) College School of Osteopathic Medicine, Mr. Payson was the school’s Associate Dean of Student Affairs at the time of his death. Prior to moving to Pikeville, KY in 1997, Mr. Payson had been with the University of Health Science’s College of Osteopathic Medicine in Kansas City, MO for 28 years.
The Missouri Association of Osteopathic Physicians and Surgeons honored Mr. Payson with their Gold Medallion award in 1995 for outstanding contributions made to the Osteopathic profession. He was named the University of Health Sciences' College of Osteopathic Medicine's Instructor of the Year in 1977 and in 1996 its Most Valuable Administrator. In 2002, the Pikeville College School of Osteopathic Medicine student body named Mr. Payson the Administrator of the Year.
Mr. Payson was a member of the Division of Alcohol and Drug Abuse Regional Advisory Council for the Missouri Department of Mental Health, and provided drug counseling for several treatment centers and organizations. He served as the chair of an institutional review board for Innovex, Inc. in Lenexa, KS. He was also a Golden Gloves physician assistant in Kansas City, a lifetime member of the Men's Garden Club of America, a member of the Kiwanis Club of Pikeville, and an avid fly angler. He was the author of the book A Handbook for Your 50’s
Or The Brokering of Wisdom.
His survivors include his wife, Marilynn (Leeper) Payson of Pikeville, KY; one son, Ben Payson of Wichita, KS; one daughter, Della Valenzuela and her husband, Steve, of Kansas City, MO; and three grandchildren, Lexus Payson, Hayden Payson and Alex Valenzuela.
A memorial service was held in Pikeville, KY following his death. On Monday, August 24, 2009, the anniversary of his death, a graveside service officiated by Rev. Rebecca Black will be held at 1PM at the Payson family lot in Prospect Hill Cemetery, Auburn Road, Millis.

Bradbury, William E., 76, died on Sunday, August 9, 2009, at his Millis home after a long illness.
Born in Brighton, he was the son of the late William F. and Mildred (Connor) Bradbury and was raised in Newton Center. After his 1950 graduation from Newton High School, he entered the Air Force and served as an Airman 1st Class throughout the Korean War.
Mr. Bradbury moved to Newton Upper Falls after his marriage and eventually settled in Millis in 1978. He had been employed for thirty eight years with Wonder Bread and had been a member of the vestry and a sexton at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church.
He is survived by his wife, Caroline J. (Bradbury) Bradbury, two sons, Walter J. Bradbury and wife Susan of Billerica and W. Stephen Bradbury, and wife Jennifer of Eastham, one grandson, Scott Bradbury, three sisters, Joan Hartford of Westwood, Cheryl Jaslowich of Salem, and Linda Wood and husband William of Portsmouth, RI, and several nieces and nephews. He was also the father of the late Deborah A. Bradbury.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 15th at 2:00p.m. at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, 903 Main Street, Millis. Burial will be private.

Daniele, John A., age 70, died on Thursday evening, August 6, 2009, at his Millis home.
Born in Boston, he was the son of the late John A. and Josephine (Barbieri) Daniele. He was a 1956 graduate of Weymouth High School and served with the U.S. Air Force from 1959 – 1963, and earned a bachelor’s degree at the Boston University School of Business in 1965.
First and foremost a family man, John’s interests were food, he was a fanatic New England Patriots fan from the establishment of its team and enjoyed numerous other sports as well, travel, having traveled to Europe 14 times and cruises 10 times in the last 10 years, as well as music and theater.
John was employed as a stockbroker and manufacturers rep prior to establishing New England Associates. He garnered many awards during his career among them Top Salesman Award, President’s Award, and a honeymoon trip from Fox Marketing.
He is survived by his wife, Jude Daniele; a special niece, Beth “B.B.” Vasconcellos of Weymouth, and a special nephew, Timothy “T.D.” Vasconcellos of Plymouth, NH, children of the late Alan Vasconcellos (his best friend and brother-in-law) a sister-in-law Leanne Vasconcellos; his parents-in-law, Albert and Mary Vasconcellos; two sisters, Dorothy Hoelting and husband Paul William, their 7 children and spouses, 13 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren, and Evelyn Dolejs and husband Dick; two sisters-in- law, Marina Boyd and husband Percel, and Joann Vasconcellos; and a brother-in-law, Albert Vasconcellos and wife Theresa.

Kuhlman, Catherine (McFetridge), age 66, a lifelong Millis resident, died suddenly on Monday morning, July 27, 2009, while visiting her cousin in Milford.
Born in Milford on December 4, 1942, she was the daughter of the late Wallace A. and Celia M. (Consoletti) McFetridge. She was a graduate of Millis High School and had been employed as a health aide at Medfield State Hospital for many years. Cathy later worked as a security guard at the MCI Framingham.
She is survived by one brother, Joseph W. McFetridge and his wife Rubye of San Diego, CA, and many relatives and friends. She was predeceased by a brother, James R. McFetridge.

Jennings, John R., age 72, of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, a former resident of Sandwich, passed away on Tuesday, July 21, 2009, at MetroWest Medical Center in Framingham after a brief illness.
Born in Boston, he was a son of the late Raymond and Lillian (Dalton) Jennings and a brother of the late Raymond Jennings.
He is survived by his life partner, Barbara Vandervort; his daughter, Debbie Hayes of Millis; a brother, George Jennings and his wife Cathi of Austin, TX; and two granddaughters, Katie and Holly Hayes of Millis. He was also an uncle of Jessica Greene and her husband George of Dorchester, and Sean Jennings and Keri Jennings of Austin, TX.
Funeral services will be private.

Weir, John Ross III, age 60, of El Paso, Texas, died in Lubbock County on Monday, July 20, 2009, after a brief illness.
Born in Waltham on May 12, 1949, he was a son of Nancy (Coburn) Weir-Mailing of Foxboro and the late John Ross Weir, Jr. After his 1968 graduation from Newton High School, he entered the Army and served in Vietnam. John made the Army his career, working for many years as a master mechanic. At the time of his retirement in 1988, he was a senior instructor and writer.
John made his home in Texas and continued his education at mortuary school. After working for a time in funeral service, he followed a calling to ministry and earned a Bachelor of Divinity degree at Shalom Bible School.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by a daughter, Allyson N. Weir of College Station, TX, two sons, John R. Weir, IV, of Leander, TX, and Joseph R. Weir, currently stationed with the Army in Korea, a sister, Deborah L. Weir of Foxboro, and five grandchildren. He was also predeceased by two brothers, Paul S. Weir and David A. Weir.
A memorial service will be held at the Church of the Advent, 28 Pleasant Street, Medfield, on Friday, August 21st at 11:00a.m. Burial with military honors will be at a later date.

Halbing, Charles C. Sr., age 96, a longtime resident of Millis, died on Sunday morning, July 19, 2009, at the Eliot Healthcare Center in Natick.
Born in Grosseibstadt, Germany, on April 27, 1913, he was a son of the late Melchior and Mathilda (Koberlin) Halbing. He immigrated at the age of six with his family to West Haven, CT. After graduating from the West Haven Schools he attended the University of Alabama. Mr. Halbing returned to West Haven and started his career as a police officer with the New York-New Haven-Hartford Railroad. He retired in 1978.
Mr. Halbing had lived many years in Mansfield prior to settling in Millis in 1963. He had been a member of the Mansfield Knights of Columbus and the Mansfield Lions Club and for the past several years enjoyed socializing with friends at King’s Terrace.
Predeceased by his wife Honora (Kelly) Halbing in 1994, he is survived by two sons, Charles C. Halbing of Old Saybrook, CT, and Stephen M. Halbing of Millis, two granddaughters, Katharine Halbing of Venice Beach, CA, and Elizabeth Halbing of Columbia, SC, his dear friend Helen Burpee of Millis, and many nieces and nephews. He was also a brother of the late Joseph and Henry Halbing and Mary Phelan.

Copithorne, Arthur N. Jr., age 92, a resident of Medfield, died on Saturday afternoon, July 18, 2009, at his home.
Born in Roxbury on October 13, 1916, he was a son of the late Arthur N. and Mary M. (Rowney) Copithorne. He was raised and educated in Somerville and was employed for a short time with United Fruit. He joined the U.S. Naval Reserve in 1937 and was called to duty during World War II.
Art was employed throughout his career as a heat treater with the Watertown Arsenal. He retired in 1969 and moved from his longtime home in Arlington to Medfield in 1980. He was a talented woodcarver and had produced many beautiful birds and hunting decoys over a span of many years. A member of the Fin, Fur and Feather Club, Art was a skeet shooter and outdoorsman. He was also a member of the Beckwith American Legion Post #110, enjoyed time spent at the new Medfield Senior Center, and was a Friend of the Medfield Library.
Predeceased by his wife Adele (Nelson) Copithorne in 2007, he is survived by a daughter, Linda C. Stenquist and her husband John of Medfield, a granddaughter, Amanda Stenquist of Jamaica Plain, and a grandson, Michael Stenquist of Bridgewater.

Howie, Samuel J., 93, of Millis where he has been a resident most of his life, died after period of declining health at the Kathleen Daniel Nursing and Rehab Center in Framingham.
Born August 23rd, 1915 in Dorchester, he was the son of the late Thomas K. Howie and Lillie Ann (Thompson) Howie. He was a 1933 graduate of Millis High School and continued his education at Dean College in Franklin and Clark University in Worcester.
Mr. Howie founded the Howie Oil Company in 1935. During WWII, he joined the U. S. Army Air Corps in 1942, and as a Staff Sergeant and Crew Chief served in the Normandy invasion, Battle of the Bulge, Rhineland and Central Europe and was discharged in October 1945 a Bronze Star Recipient. During that time his wife Virginia and brother Tom ran the family business.
Sam led a long and productive life. He was not only President, CEO and CFO of the Howie Oil Company, but Past President and long time board member of the former Medway Savings Bank, now known as Strata Bank. He was also involved in many committees in the town of Millis, some of which were the Clyde Brown School Building Committee, the Industrial Development Commission, the Board of Assessors, the Energy Conservation Committee and the Finance Commission. He was also a member of the Charles River Lodge of Masons in Medway and the Post 208 American Legion in Millis. Also a pilot, Sam enjoyed flying having owned several airplanes over the years; he was also a Studebaker Avanti aficionado.
Sam leaves his wife of 67 years, Virginia B. (Howe) Howie, 5 sons, Tom Howie and his wife Kathy, Sam Howie Jr., Steve Howie and his wife Jan, Joel Howie and Paul Howie all of Millis, 8 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. He was predeceased by 2 brothers Tom Howie and John Howie, and 2 sisters Ruth Geyer and Lillian Morey.
Private services will be held at the convenience of Sam’s family with burial and military honors in the family lot at Prospect Hill Cemetery, Millis.

Buchanan, Katherine Marie (mohr), age 81, died on Tuesday, July 14, 2009 at the Hebrew Rehabilitation Center, from complications following cancer surgery, with family members at her side. She was the daughter of late William Henry Philip and Elizabeth (Christman) Mohr. Kay grew up in the Roslindale section of Boston, married and moved to Medfield where she resided with her husband for 50 years before they moved to the Community at Pond Meadow in Wrentham.
Kay leaves her husband of 60 years, Austin C. “Buck” Buchanan, four daughters; Karyn Marie Bliss and her husband Richard of Haslet, TX, Pauline Louise Buchanan of Chesapeake, VA, Sandra Lee Raimbeault and her husband Robert of Pawtucket, RI, and Debra Mohr Castaldi and her husband Carty of Boston, five grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, a niece and four nephews. She was predeceased by two brothers, Warren Mohr and David P. Mohr.
Kay was a graduate of Hyde Park high school and the Massachusetts Memorial Hospital School of Nursing where she worked following her graduation. Kay interrupted her career to raise her family, returning to nursing in the early 1970s at the Glover Memorial Hospital in Needham. She started in the emergency room, then moved up to the intensive care unit and then served as head nurse on the 47 bed surgical floor for several years before retiring in 1992.
A member of the First Parish Unitarian Universalist of Medfield for 59 years, she served as Director of Religious Education, also served on the governing board as a member and clerk. Kay was very active in church activities serving at chairman of several committees and as president of the Woman’s Alliance. Kay supervised the office of the family printing business located on Spring Street in Medfield. An avid gardener she tended a large vegetable garden as well as several flower gardens around the Medfield home. She enjoyed sewing, making many of her children’s clothes, knitting and crocheting, and enjoyed working and teaching many crafts such as basket weaving, and painting with acrylics. Kay loved to read, her expertise as a bridge and Mah Jongg player is well known.
A Remembrance Service will be conducted on Saturday, August 1, 2009 at the First Parish Church Unitarian Universalist, 26 North Street, Medfield, MA at 10 a.m. Family and friends are welcome to attend.

Steele, Jeffry, age 62, a longtime resident of Millis, died suddenly on Sunday morning, July 5, 2009, at his home.
Born in Lafayette, Indiana, on August 13, 1946, he was a son of the late McCord and Margaret (Chambers) Steele. He was raised in Attica, IN, and was a graduate of Pine Village High School. He earned a degree in agriculture and education at Purdue University where he also played tuba with the Purdue All-American Marching Band. His first teaching position was at the Reynolds Middle School in Reynolds, IN.
Jeff moved to the Boston area in 1970 and embarked on his long career with the Framingham Public Schools. During the course of his tenure he taught pupils at the Walsh and Barberi Middle Schools and Framingham North High School. Subjects he taught included earth science, satellite monitoring, meteorology, and animal behavior. He was a coach for the Academic Decathlon Team and the Solar Car Club. Jeff earned a Master of Science Degree from Framingham State College.
Prior to settling in Millis in 1975, Jeff had lived in Framingham, Holliston, and Medfield. He had been a longtime Troop Leader for both the Boy and Girl Scouts of America and had enjoyed playing with the Southeastern Massachusetts Community Concert Band. He was very active with St. Paul’s Episcopal Church as a choir member, leader of the men’s group and a Lay Eucharistic Minister. He also volunteered as a driver for the Millis Senior Center. Jeff enjoyed gardening and caring for his yard, woodworking, and many outdoor activities. He and his wife shared many memorable trips since their retirement.
He is survived by his wife, Susan (Hobbs) Steele, DVM; a daughter, Karen Lynne Morrow and her husband Jeffrey of Clarksville, TN; a son, Charles McCord Steele of Seattle, WA; a grandson, Ethan Graham Morrow; a brother, Edward Steele and his wife Joanne of Dunsmuir, CA; a sister, Layna Cottingham and her husband Dwain of Attica, IN; and many nieces and nephews.

Murray, Amanda Leigh, age 23, of Medfield, died from injuries sustained in an automobile accident in Walpole on Saturday, July 4, 2009.
Born in Newton on January 27, 1986, she was a daughter of Susan (Richards) Murray of Medfield and Thomas M. Murray of Naples, FL. Amanda was raised in Medfield and was a 2004 graduate of Medfield High School. She continued her education at Mass. Bay Community College where she had an interest in criminal justice.
Amanda moved to Fort Worth, FL, two years ago where she met her fiancé, Jason Wayne Spurlin. The couple returned to Medfield in May and their son, Jason Wayne “L.J.” Spurlin II, was born last month. Amanda loved music, photography, animals, and spending time with family and friends, but was most excited about being a new mom.
She is additionally survived by a sister, Colleen R. Murray of Medfield, two brothers, Joseph R. Murray of Medfield and Tommylee B. Murray of Naples, her stepfather, John Voros, her maternal grandparents, Archie C. and Alma R. (Charlton) Richards of Bridgton, ME, her paternal grandfather, Francis X. Murray, Sr. of South Boston, and many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. She was predeceased by her paternal grandmother, Gloria B. (Petrie) Murray.

Hines, Francis X., age 68, of Rotonda West, FL, formerly of Millis and Harwich Port, who died on Wednesday, April 22, 2009.
Born on November 23, 1940, a son of he late Gerard M. and Catherine F. (Brown) Hines, he was raised and educated in Hyde Park. He joined the U.S. Air Force in 1958 and that November married his wife Millie. During his service he was stationed at Goldsboro, NC, Yokota, Japan, Tampa, FL, and Iceland.
Frank settled in Millis where he spent three years with the Millis Police Department. He was later employed with the U.S. Postal Service and retired after a twenty seven year career. He had remained busy as a maintenance man at Sunburst Condos on Manasota Key in Florida.
A 32 year Communicant at St. Thomas the Apostle Church and former sexton at the Church of Christ, Millis, Frank was also a member of the Boggastow Fish and Game Club and Amvets Post 495 in Millis, and the National Association of Letter Carriers, Branch 156, Foxboro. In Florida he had active with the Rotonda West American Legion Post 113 and Elks Lodge 2710. He had a zest for life, a warm loving smile, and a caring heart. He had a passion for his family, boating, and golf.
He is survived by his wife of fifty years, Mildred (Jones) Hines, a son; Francis X. Hines, Jr. and wife Jeanne of Lynnfield, two daughters; Dawn Marie Rich and husband Douglas of Kennesaw, GA, and Lori Jeanne Connolly and husband Robert of Norfolk, nine grandchildren; Sara Connolly Joyce and husband Sean of Franklin, Ryan Connolly and Tyler Connolly of Norfolk, Katie Rich, Carly Rich, and Trevor Rich of Kennesaw, GA, Francis Hines III, Samuel Hines, and Benjamin Hines of Lynnfield, a great-granddaughter, Callie Jeanne Joyce of Franklin, two brothers, Gerard Hines and wife Clara of Melbourne, FL, and Jack Hines and wife Kathy of Mansfield, two sisters, Karen Moran and husband James of Mansfield, and Mary Alexander of Covington, GA, and many nieces and nephews.

Andonian, Violet, age 88, a resident at Windemere Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Oak Bluffs, died Wednesday afternoon, May 27, 2009, at Martha’s Vineyard Hospital.
Born in Sepastia, Armenia, on August 16, 1920, she was a daughter of the late Eknadios and Yhugaper Andonian. She was a longtime resident of Hartford, CT, and spent her later years in Massachusetts, first in Millis and later in Franklin. In 2005, she moved to Martha’s Vineyard.
Violet was a loving, kind, and creative individual who loved music, dance, and painting. During World War II, she worked for Hamilton Propeller Aircraft as a drill press operator. She was later employed as a copy holder with Connecticut Printers in Bloomfield, CT.
She was predeceased by her siblings, Shenorhek Hagopian, Haig Andonian, and Aghavni Maranjian and is survived by three nieces, Alice Hagopian and Anoush Dekmejian of Glendale, CA, and Olga Maranjian Church of Edgartown, and three nephews, Arthur Maranjian of Fort Collins, CO, Hrair Dekmejian of Glendale, CA, and Ronald Trenouth of East Falmouth. She is also mourned by many grandnieces and nephews as well as relatives and friends in California, Ohio, Connecticut, and Massachusetts.
Private funeral services were held in Nashua, NH, on May 30th with the Reverend Khachador Kasabian officiating. Roberts-Mitchell Funeral Service of Medfield and Millis assisted the family with arrangements.

Smith, Ann Lloyes, age 78, died at her Taunton home on Tuesday, April 14, 2009.
Born in Framingham on May 6, 1930, she was the daughter of the late John Lorie and Helen E. (Backman) Smith. She was a former resident of Medfield.
Mrs. Smith had performed for many years with professional dance troupes throughout the country. She was later employed with Keithley Instruments and Texas Instruments and had been active with the Agape Chapel in Raynham. Mrs. Smith was a longtime member of the Taunton Golden Agers and had enjoyed raising, training, and showing Pomeranian dogs. She loved listening to music and watching old movies.
She is survived by a daughter, Linda Hebert of Pawtucket, RI, and several close friends, among them Evamae Dumoulin of Taunton.
A graveside funeral service will be held at Vine Lake Cemetery, 625 Main Street (Rte. 109), Medfield, on Monday, June 8th at 2:30p.m.

Kelley, Lizanne M., 51, a former longtime resident of Millis, died on Friday, May 8, 2009, surrounded by family and friends at her Medway home.
Born in Boston, she was a daughter of Jeanne Marie (Miller) Kelley of Bay Harbor Islands, FL, and the late Arthur F. Kelley. She was a 1975 graduate of Needham High School and continued her education at Massachusetts Bay Community College.
Liz was employed as the director of marketing for OmniComm Systems of Fort Lauderdale, FL, and had previously held a similar position with Phase Forward of Waltham. She had also worked as head of catering sales for the Inn at Longwood in Boston. She had been an enthusiastic volunteer with Hospitality Homes, helping to find housing for families of hospital patients.
Fond of travel and summering on Cape Cod or in York, Maine, Liz also enjoyed cooking and gardening. She was kind, generous, loved to sing and dance, had a great sense of humor, and relished her role as a mother.
In addition to her mother, she is survived by a daughter, Georgia Marie Kelley of Medway, a sister, Carol A. Pacheco and husband Ronald of Dedham, a brother, Brian A. “Bud” Kelley of Mansfield, and many extended family members and close friends.
Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Thomas the Apostle Church, 82 Exchange Street, Millis, on Friday, May 15th at 10:00a.m. Burial will be private.
Visiting hours will be held at the Roberts-Mitchell Funeral Home, 90 Curve Street, Millis, Thursday, 7 - 9p.m.

Lane, Catherine V. (Holt), age 88, of Bellingham, formerly of Holliston and Sherborn, died on Sunday, June 1, 2008, at the Milford Regional Medical Center.
Born in Millis on March 5, 1920, she was a daughter of the late Frank J. and Annie A. (Fisher) Holt. She was a 1938 graduate of Millis High School and later married Edward Francis Lane.
Mrs. Lane made a home for her family for twenty-seven years in Sherborn where she was a communicant of St. Theresa’s Parish and a member of the Charles F. Duford Post #47 American Legion Auxiliary. She moved in 1978 to Holliston where she resided until relocating in 1995 to Bellingham. Her greatest passion was spending time with her large extended family. She also enjoyed her work at Ashland Manor as a cook, and Kathleen Daniels House as a housekeeper.
Wife of the late Edward Francis Lane, she is survived by three sons, Edward F. Lane Jr. of Marlborough, and Thomas M. Lane and Kenneth P. Lane, both of Bellingham, four daughters, Kathleen McLaughlin, Mary E. Karcher, Maureen Lane, Nancy A. Wood, and her son in law Larry P. McLaughlin all of Bellingham, four sisters, Barbara Harris and Joan Sarah, both of Milford, and Rita Bagdasarian and Therese Perciaccante, both of Millis, 15 grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, and one great great-grandson. She was also the sister of the late Mary Frye, Margaret Keenan, Joseph Holt and Frank Holt Jr.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Thomas the Apostle Church, 82 Exchange Street, Millis, on Friday, June 6th at 10:00a.m. Burial will follow at St. Joseph’s Cemetery, West Roxbury.
Visiting hours will be at the Roberts-Mitchell Funeral Home, 90 Curve Street, Millis, Thursday 4 – 8p.m.

Gudaitis, Patrick Donald, age 24, a Medfield resident since 1987, died suddenly Thursday morning, March 20, 2008, at his home.
Born in Washington Township, New Jersey, on August 25, 1983, Patrick was the son of Donald J. and Michelle (D’Onofrio) Gudaitis of Medfield. He was a 2002 graduate of Medfield High School. Patrick studied at Bridgewater State College and Wentworth Institute of Technology toward a degree in Construction Management. He had since been employed as a contract carpenter in the Greater Boston and MetroWest areas.
Patrick had an enthusiasm for music and playing guitar. He enjoyed working with and building computers and also found much enjoyment snowboarding.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by his sister, Holly M. Gudaitis of Somerville, his maternal grandparents, William and Gladys (Barcel) D’Onofrio of Monroe Township, NJ, his paternal grandmother, Ellen M. (Sullivan) Gudaitis of Ringwood, NJ, his aunts and uncles, Denise Casey of Easton, PA, Maria and Bob Ferguson of East Brunswick, NJ, Susan and Tom Morton of Ringwood, NJ, Karen and Joe Alfieri of Manahawkin, NJ, and Christine Gudaitis of Miami Beach, FL, and many cousins. He was predeceased by his paternal grandfather, Donald J. Gudaitis, Sr.
Visiting hours will be at the Roberts-Mitchell Funeral Home, 15 Miller Street, Medfield, on Saturday 3:00 - 6:00p.m. and on Monday 3:30 - 7:00p.m. A private funeral service is planned.
