Somers, Robert Herman Jr.
, age 48, died at his Millis home on Sunday evening, August 30, 2009, after a long illness.
Born in Natick on June 18, 1961, he was a son of Valerie A. (McLean) Somers of Millis and the late Robert H. Somers. He moved with his family to Millis as a young boy and was a 1980 graduate of Tri-County Regional Vocational Technical High School in Franklin.
Robert had been employed with Herman Shoe Company and Ann and Hope prior to working with BJs Wholesale Club as a forklift operator for the past ten years. An enthusiastic Boston Bruins fan, he also followed Boston College Football and the Washington Redskins. He enjoyed movies and listening to music.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by two brothers, Mark R. (Christine) Somers of Wrentham and Michael R. (Linda) Somers of Woonsocket, RI; three sisters, Maureen A. (Walter) Martins of Bellingham, Barbara A. (Dana) Grinnell of Hopedale, and Diane M. (Gary) Baker of Bellingham; twelve nieces and nephews and five grandnieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Saint Thomas the Apostle Church, 82 Exchange Street, Millis, on Friday, Sept. 4th at 10:00a.m. Burial will be private at a later date.
Visiting hours will be held at the Roberts-Mitchell Funeral Home, 90 Curve Street, Millis, on Thursday 5 – 8p.m.
If desired, donations may be made in Robert’s memory to the American Cancer Society, 30 Speen Street, Framingham, MA 01701-9376.

I remember Bobby well from Tri-County's "breaking-in" period in 1980. He was a great guy then, and I'm sure he matured into a better man.
