| Rev. Rebecca Black |
(revrebec@aol.com): |
Jeff was an integral part of our parish family. He was a Eucharistic Minister and a Parish Visitor, and loved bringing communion to shut-ins and hospitalized folk. He was Stewardship Chair for many years, and the voice of conscience for us on issues environmental. He played music in the chapel, sang in the choir, and gathered the Men's Group. His backdrops for our Vacation Bible School this year were amazing, especially the special storytelling cave he created. We enjoyed our annual parish picnic with Jeff (and Sue) as our gracious hosts just this past weekend (June 28). We will travel off to see the PawSox at the end of the month - an annual event Jeff organized and spearheaded. He was one of the first parishioners I ever met at St. Paul's, in his service on the Search Committee. The list of things Jeff has done for others, both in the parish and in the town, is endless-- from driving the Senior Van to mentoring confirmands to planning story time for preschoolers, Jeff touched all he knew.
We will all miss him so much. And celebrate having known such a great person who truly showed God's grace to the world. |

(maxmicheldvm@hotmail.com): |
Sue, Joyce and I want to extend our deepest sympathy to you and your family. We were shocked and sadden, as everyone, to learn about Jeff.
He truly loved life, his family, community, and people. We will miss him! I will miss the times we spent together sitting around the dinning table in the hospitality suite, at the conference, talking about times at Purdue, his new adventures that he was pursuing after retirement, and his commentary on the trips that both of you had taken over the last year. I liked to listen to his comments on various events and happenings, because I thought he had remarkable insight on these matters. Plus he always had a great sense of humor backed up by a big smile.
Joyce and I especially enjoyed the time that we were able to spend with you and Jeff on our trips. One of our fondest memories was our last trip to Key West and the seaplane ride to Fort Jefferson in the Dry Tortogas. We will always hold these times close to our hearts and regret that we cannot have more.
It's times like this that we are reminded how precious life is and the importance of family and friends. We are truly blessed to have known Jeff.
May God be with you and bless you and your family |

| To Jeff's family, I am so sorry to hear of your loss. Mr. Steele was always so friendly to my husband Jonathan and my family , especially when we were new people to the church., He was one of the first to welcome us. I thought he and Jonathan had a certain communication with each other, they both admired education and music. I remember Jeff as a gentle man, who always wanted to make sure I had my cup of tea afterwards. He will be sadly missed. My prayers will be said for your family everyday. His wonderful smile , and way of talking gently to people will always be remembered.
